I am hoping someone can help me with rigging an imported MWO mech in Blender.
I basically following the instructions from Heffey up to a point here: http://mwomercs.com/...ing-pgis-mechs/
1. I located the mech with 7zip
2. Utilize Noesis with the Cryengine plugin to flip UV.
3. Import the .obj file into Blender
4. Remove vertices & convert tris to quads (180).
I then proceed to rig. I have follow several tutorials that are all very similar and I believe I have the basics down for a simple rig. However, I cannot for the life of me get the rig to mount to the mesh; only the rig is pose-able (independently from the mesh). The mesh is not pose-able with the rig.
What do you guys think I am doing wrong?

You have to parent the rig to the mesh. I think it's alt-P, but you're going to want to do some things in advance. When using human models, you can use automatic weights but you don't want metal bending like skin.
First, you're going to want to set up vertex groups for each of the areas. Upper legs, lower legs, etc, etc. It's a pain when you get to fingers and toes, since there are a bunch there. But you want to have a solid naming convention for this part, because when you create bones you're going to want to create them with the exact same names as the vertex groups. That way when you parent the objects, it'll assign the influence of the part to the proper bone.
Let me get my workflow for you. It should help a lot. It includes setting up IK bones as well, which is really handy for setting up poses.
Oh, check your PMs. I sent you the answer yesterday.
Parent rig to mech. Object mode: Click mech, shift right click armature. Ctrl-P, set with Empty Group

not sure how it works specifically in blender but basically group all the parts of the leg into separate areas.. feet/lower leg/ upper leg then link them to the lower drive. its important to build the hierarchy properly so that every thing eventually moves together..anyhow... once you have the groups made and then llinked together in proper hierarchy you can then simply link the body parts to the rig. once they are all linked to the rig you should be able to do what ever.
