I've been mulling over this idea, and while its really not a mech warrior thing, well I believe it might breathe a little life into the game.
So 2 Different Ideas, The first lead to the second.
My first idea, was for camo patterns, When I first saw the buccaneer pattern, my first thought was "lucky Tampa Bay fans" ok insert a different word for fans. That's when I thought it would be a good money maker to make patterns for the NFL teams ... but not so its in conflict with NFL logo, and license issues. But you can make a pattern that has an eagle, you already have the Sherman tank one with a star, make a loin one, cardinal, bear ....etc. Boiler plate them so all your changing is animal/symbol decal. While most won't shell out $$ to just have a general pattern, there are many hardcore football fans what would shell out $$ for that.
So that lead to the second idea. A football/soccer Game mode. Many other games have similar modes, like Team Fortress, Counter Strike, etc. Where you could have a soccer type field for a map and 12 man teams trying to score a goal. A mech can catch the ball, pass the ball, kick the ball.
So its a bit more soccer than football, but close enough. Then let them choose a team, just like factions, to be displayed during that mode. Same 3 letters tied to your generic animal/symbol that closely resembles an NFL football team.
What does this do, allows players who have lost interest in grinding, something else to do, and still earn some c-bills and exp. Don't get all Fancy, simple map, with terrain ... a smaller tourmaline might work well ..
all mechs have a purpose ... collisions can cause you to lose the ball, heavier mech wins 75% of the time. take weapons out of the equation.
Have say 3 maps, plain flat basic one, and 2 terrain types. Picture one like a paint ball obstacle Map. Jump jets will be the bomb.
Hey its just a thought to help alleviate some of the map mode frustrations, an give the game a little more depth.
Trolls - if you don't like the idea, good, you would never have to play it - so don't waste time telling us how much you would hate it.
