Greetings all,

We currently have only the blue overhead views of all the in game maps being played. I would like to see the Developers release a high altitude normal vision view of every map we have now, and to include future maps. The Dev. tools they have allow for "free flight" mode (as seen at the grand opening tournament play) and this would present a full down view in all the terrain true colours.

This map view would truly allow for advanced tactical planning using the "what you see is what you get" images, and not the all things blue that we have now. The use of 3rd party programs like GTactics and Smurfy maps to plan movement and tactics helps the teams and units co-ordinate there activities.

Advanced knowledge of the terrain and lay of the ground is key to successful maneuvers. Knowing where the enemy could be and planning accordingly will win battles for the unit and teams.

I'll show you two images for small scale battle planning, which one would give the you a better understanding of where things are and how to move through the terrain. (2nd image is colour enhanced)
- These are reference images only. -

This is the normal Smurfy type image.

This is a colour enhanced and shaded image. (of the same smurfy map)

Using these as the examples I'd prefer to plan on the enhanced coloured maps, and showing to team members it would be more what we would actually see on the ground. We have become so used to full blown glorious colours from "Google Earth maps" and normal topographical maps, that some players, not familiar with map reading basics skills, might have difficulty with the "all Blue" vision from PGI.

I would think this would require at most, a 1/2 hour of time to bring up the actual map art assets and capture a full colour image.
[possibly longer if done from within the game engine.]

With Factions, Great House's, and Mercenaries now beginning to be formed, and role specific duties arriving soon, we need to have good tactical information available. Full colour images of the area's we will be contesting control is vital. ( I understand the HPG map may be a bit greyed out, but we still need the true image.)

All for now, and hopping Dx11 and the new engine update bring better tools for improved graphics.

Later,
9erRed
