I mastered my Founders JR7-D and -F and dumped the -K.

I would sell my Founders Hunchback and Catapult if I could, because that would remove the temptation (and expense) of bothering to master them someday. :o

After I mastered the ECM Raven, I sold the other two variants as junk.

Dragon is my most recent chassis I've been working through, I kept the 1N and 1C variants but dumped the 5N because I just didn't care about the hardpoints.

The only Mech line I've kept all of them from so far are the Cicadas - I have the 3M, X-5, and 2A, and I like them each for different reasons (and different loadouts). In beta I used to love running around in my Jenners, but I got into the Cicada after returning from a long break from MWO, and I think I've found my favorite so far. ;)

I usually keep the best two variants of every chassis.

But even then I have 20 Mechs that almost never get played.

I can always buy them back if for some remarkable reason Mechs like the Jenner-K, or the SHK-5M become useful.

I typically only keep one variant of each mech I master. People are going to say I'm an ***** but I've already sold off the non-Phoenix variants that you can't even buy yet. I just don't see the point of keeping a mech around when I don't play it.

edit: We cant' say i.diot? Is this the preschool section of the forums?

I do the same. However, have not sold the phoenix mechs yet, as I have only mastered 2 Shadow Hawks and 2 Battle Masters, masters and like both variants of each mech. Also, no need to sell until new mechs are released. If I ever want a mech that I have sold, I will just buy it again, which hasn't happened yet. Also, I don't sell the hero mechs I buy.

They are all pretty similar, the HGN-733C is by far the most popular. Id suggest the 732 and 733 as your other chassis. The P lacks a ballistic and only adds a 4th energy slot as recompense. I have a hard time viewing any highlander build without ballistics.

Since they are so similar I tend to use the 733 as a Missile boat, and the 732 as a energy/srm brawler (though at the moment brawling is silly) 733-C is a sniper =) it excells at this.

733 makes a fine lrm boat however, I prefer the 733P as my missile boat due to the extra backup lasers I can mount.

I sold a Hunchback right from the start, after 2 played games and 2 Ravens (2X & 4X).
The Hunchback was just for testing purpose. I wanted a medium Mech, but he was not my flavour. The Ravens are mastered and I just keeped the 3L. Thats just for my Team, I dont like Lights and I dont wanna really play them. Its just to have an alternative to offer for Teamfights.
Also the Locust's from the Phoenix Package, I might gonna sell them. Never played yet and never want to.

Absolutely I sell them. there is usually only 1 chassi I really want to run, since i have the Cbills and the GXP. I just buy the other 2 XP them up and sell them. seriously why would I want to grind builds I hate running?

I sell everything that is clearly outclassed by other variants or chassis.

For example:
I sold the CTF-4X, because the Jaeger is so much better.
I sold the JM6-A, because the other Jaegers are so much better.
I sold the HBK-4J, because it simply is terrible.
I sold the DRG-1N, because I only bought ot to master Fang/Flame.
I kept the AS7-K, because I really like the Atlas chassis.

I keep all my mechs.. Even supposedly "bad" ones..

No bad variants just bad pilots.. (well maybe excep for the locust 1v)..

I buy all variants for a specific chassis.. As an example I have all the awesomes (including pretty baby) and they are all mastered... I even ran them during the goose and erm pee pee cee meta...

pack rat am I. Never throw something out - you may need it later. Garbage ect yes, but old computer parts ect still have em and have been useful in getting things going even if it isnt ideal.

SO I do think I will sell maybe just add. The only issue is the grind for $ and wanting something bad may tempt me. Prem and Champ it is a slog at the best of times.

I have kept all my mechs reguardless of how they perform, partly because I don't want to see those hard earned C-bills or MC get flushed down the drain with poor resell value, and partly because even if I don't drive 90% of my mechs any more, I like having the option of just jumping into a game with anything I feel like, even if it is only to see if it is as bad as I remember.

World of Tanks put me in this mind set, selling off half my garrage in order to get a tier 10 hanger queen that required I keep grinding the same overused and now boring premium tanks so I could acutally drive it is one of the driving forces of me throwing up my hands and being done with that game.

Weather they buff my inferior mechs down the line is irrelevent to me, I just don't have the heart to once again play a game for years, only to have nothing to show for it because crappy resell value ate all my hard work. I'll sell spare weapons and 'sub-optimal' engines that I'm never going to use, but never mechs.

I sold all the bad variants for all my Centurions, Catapults, Jagermechs and Awesomes so I could buy the Highlander. Then I didn't really like the Highlander, so I changed my mind. Sold all the Highlanders, bought back all the Centurions, Catapults, Jagermechs and Awesomes.

And it only cost me a few hundred hours of grinding.

Now I wish I didn't sell those Highlanders.

I'm so smart.

Yeah I usually only keep 1-2 variants that I like after eliting them up, then go on to master the variants I kept. There are exceptions however in the form of the dragon and quickdraw, both got the total scrub treatment. If I had more money to throw at the game regularly I might have kept more of the mechs I DO like (Blackjack and Orion) but as it stands, one BJ-1 and couple of the ON1s.

I sell after basics if I don't want the variant. I usually keep 2 variants around, except for assaults where I keep all of them. I tend to play most of my kept mechs, about 22 so far.

Sold
CDA-2A & 2B
HBK-4G
DRG-1C - only dragon
QKD-4G
CAT-A1
JM6-DD
CTF-4X

Only regret selling the DD and the 4X, but not enough to buy them back. I need mechbays for when the SHD gets released for cbills.

I have considered selling my locusts, but probably wont. I'll end up a collector.

I've sold off a lot in the last year. I don't get many hours in each week, and PuG-only play isn't always the best paying. I use the income to help buy a new chassis when I get bored (and to actually get any money back, I put most of the stock equipment and engine back in, so I don't have many spares).

I have bought some back recently, and I see myself buying even more back and some more mech bays to fill up. Maybe in a few months I'll be in the "Nope, never sell them" bracket. But not yet.
