As it stands now, whenever the DEV's make a merry decision to interact with weapon design, it tends to go bad. The latest round of merriment is the forum population wants to nerf AC's. Which is just another bit of the cycle of life going in reverse. So far, just about all weapons have been made worse in the game:
-SRM hit detection was made significantly worse and now spread out more than Roseanne Barr's butt after Christmas
-SSRM have been set to spread so much that they are effectively only a deterrent to lights and in some cases mediums
-Energy weapon heat has been raised so high from base heat &/or ghost heat that they generally can only be used in pairs
-LRM's require the player to physically expose themselves to get a lock for 3-5 seconds to get the benefit of Artemis OR the player can shoot indirect fire and have 1/5th of their shots hit.
-AMS has been upped to the point where it negates a LRM5 completely

I shutter to think what the Dev's would do to AC's if they completely re-balanced them. We might as well be issued damage for scalding text replies in chat than shooting the nerfed to nothing weapons.

Most players have switched to using a mix of AC's and PPC's to offset some of the increasing poor design decisions by the DEV's. As it stands now, if the Dev's want to mess with AC's then they have to completely redo Ghost Heat for energy weapons to go in parity with whatever they do to AC's. Hardly anyone uses missile builds regularly now due to how bad they have been nerfed. I'm just saying, if AC's get touched in any ways, means or form, then the Dev team would have to fix:
LRM
SRM
Ghost Heat

Because once they take AC's away, they'll end up with another exodus of players who left after each time the Dev's nerfed a weapon family.

And a whole new set of weapons to cry about.

If they nerf AC's, then the next thing that players would move onto logically won't be a weapon family but concentrated fire. As it stands now, the Devs have shown no interest in changing convergence would deal with concentrated fire. Hopefully they will leave AC alone just to avoid dealing with the next logical topic.

Or just try to put ballistics at a matching level to the two groups they have there balance cycle behind them.

The questen is, do the mechs die to fast?
Yes = take down ballistics to the level of missiles and energy
No = Push energy and missiles to the level of ballistics.

This would mean, that all 3 weapongroups are balanced then?
Great! Or not?

You do know that SSRMs now, functionally, work the way they are suppose to? By spreading damage.

SRMs also do this, to a degree.

Now every other weapon in the game needs to do the same and you will see MUCH more balance.

But the community seems to disagree with this, thus this game will continue down it's path of being forever unbalanced, just like all previous MW titles following the same pin point convergence gameplay.

I would dare say they need to streamline the process for implementing weapon changes. So that they can tweak weapons more subtly from one spectrum to the other. Instead of dramatic changes that completely screw over an entire weapon system for two months before they decide they did bad.
