You're missing the real advantage of the mech. And that is that when community warfare is released, you can drop on planet Kaetetoa and summon the formidable Tetatae to do your bidding.

It should be mastered, because when your team can have only 20 ton more it's gold. Also, it is not that bad mech if you just keep running.

it seems like the Locust just got swept under the rug! when the commando got the engine upgrade! can the Locust still go faster than other light mechs if they all put the biggest engine it can handle?

Max speed for a Locust with a 190 engine is 169.3. For a Commando it's 171. Essentially means they're the same speed, as it's less than 0.5 m/s difference.

Locust has 138 armour (about 3.85 tons), ~6 tons for weapons payload and 8 crits free.
Commando has 178 armour (just under 5 tons), ~5.5 tons for weapons and 9 crits free.

So the Commando has 30% more armour, same speed, half a ton less for weapons and 1 extra crit when compared to the Locust.

Eventually the Locust will probably be able to hit 200 kph with an XL225. +4 tons for the engine -2 tons for internal heat sinks means 4 tons still for payload...that's not bad. No idea about the Commando's max engine as they keep changing it. It might not get too much faster as they get the netcode working better at high speeds.

It's also nearly twice the tonnage (20 tons vs 35 tons)...the difference is made up in the Jump Jets. :P

It's like comparing a Cicada to a Shadow Hawk, a Dragon to an Orion or an Awesome to an Atlas. They're all the same tonnage class, but there's a huge difference between the bottom end of a class and the top end.

The latter is not accurate. It's almost 6.5 tons for weapons and 10 crits free.

Your assumption assumes Endo, FF, and DHS, max armor with the fastest engine and the required 10 DHS...

The Commando is still better than the Locust at this point in time.

You're right. I'm not entirely sure where that extra ton went missing.

That would be terrifying.
Teetering stacks of bad posts and cake, where weapons operate inconsistently because they encounter NERF pockets, surrounded by images of the banned and dispossessed.

Nightmarish to say the least.
