As stated in Title I am looking towards my next mech in MWO currently finishing off catapults once I get them to elite I am moving on but to what?

mechs that sound and look interesting
Dragons
example build http://mwo.smurfy-ne...82227e7cd25d221

Stalker
example http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7286454d0d6b5df

I do like moving at a nice clip with the mechs I have used (locusts, jenners, ravens, centurion, hunchback, victo,r catapults) this is why I was looking at a dragon even though I hear bad things about its CT catapults seem to have the same problem.

the Stalker will be my first very slow mech and will require more planning in my movements as once I get stuck in unless I win I might not be coming back out.

so any reasons why I should choose one over the other
or is there a better mech out there for me to try

armor values will be changed should I ever take them into a fight.

Since you already have a heavy class in the stable that you are feeling good with, of the two I woudl recommend the Stalker. It's a fine weapons platform to begin learning the assault lifestyle, but it is not something you will ever likely confuse with speedy.

For your proposed, build, I woudl trade in the two medium pulse lasers for two more DHS (fit in torsos) and two more tons of SSRM ammo, which I beleive will work from a quck perusal of your Smurfy link.

I like the build, but if you can hit it with the Mpulses you could be hitting it with the Large Lasers anyway, or at least that's how I see it. The Streaks are your in close add on as needed.

Get stalkers, very solid mech.

Dragons are fun, but are just inferior to other heavies in the current meta.

The dragon (and quickdraw) are both now overshadowed by the shadowhawk. The shadowhawk is faster, better hit boxes, and has jumpjets. The dragon's huge center torso makes them less survivable than the shadowhawk. And when weight limits finally get here - the dragon weighs 5 tons more.

Stalker will be as far from "moving at a nice clip" as you can get when you start out with them. But why not try something different for once?

As others have stated. I recommend the Stalker. It's one of my favorites. It may be slow and clumbsy but once you get the hang of it and unlock some efficiencies you wont be disappointed.
