What is enabling bad behavior exactly? Should we all stop spending money on this game and watch it spiral into bankruptcy, and ensure nobody touches the failed Mechwarrior license for many, many years?
That "year behind" business is absolutely nonsense. It's their own schedule, how about they just make it, "when it's done." There, now you can't complain about them being late for anything. People act like it's just so easy to program and design a game and when it takes longer than their imaginary timeframe, it's considered bad behavior... I'm sure PGI are just being lazy and don't care if the game succeeds, not like their paychecks and jobs depend on it or anything.
