I dunno. I was running this build (almost, at least... mine has 2 JJ) since the BJ was released, and it's my best BJ by a longshot in terms of K/D and W/L. For me, at least, the numbers speak for the viability of this build. Though I would find a way to squeeze that 2nd JJ on there

This is what I run.

I find full 4/4 jumpies to be far too useful for both mobility and defense, and I run out of ammo too quick with only 3 tons for the AC20.

I've tried with 3 lasers, and it is nice, but not worth whatever you give up to get it.

what in the world happened to my quote...

I took Garth's quote and did a letter by letter cut and paste from his to yours (all of the vowels, many of the consonants) to see if I could get the color to "migrate".

Epic fail.

On the post, I am not collecting the Champions, but I may try this build (and the other variants discussed).

But who cares what they want, right?

I'm very curious as to where the highly requested part came from? Did people email support asking for that specific loadout to be made a champion? I'm also interested in what statistically viable means.

And of course the BJ-1 champion is the second rate version. IE the one that overheats easily, doesn't have enough AC20 ammo, is short on jumpjets and will probably get most of the people who pilot it killed.

Stop exacerbating the "More guns = more damage" mentality, PGI. This mech can only handle/needs 2ML, and needs all the vertical thrust it can get! Survival = longer life = more chances to deal damage = better contribution to the team effort. Plus, I run out of AC20 ammo with 5 tons just about every time I play my BJ-1. Only having 4 is a problem, and swapping that ton with another ML will only make this sucker overheat constantly.

I eat 3ML BJ1s like they're ******* candy.

Do you eat them in your Atlas, while they rush you like the newbs that they are because Elo has sadistic tendencies?
A newb in an Atlas is just as easy to kill as newb in an Blackjack.

I'm not sure about "highly requested" part. I think (and I'm probably wrong here) but I think there are votes/polls @ mechspecs or someplace that is responsible for this.

That would explain most of it, and on the other hand make me facepalm because many of the designs have really bad flaws in them. Ammo-xplody legs would be one of them.

I'm glad to hear that. Then listen to the community and do something about the incredibly fugly changes made to the Catapult Missile arms. They look horrible now.

I do love my Jester though. Thanks for that.

I have 4 tons of AC20 ammo in mine. All I give up are the two JJs. Does the job for me. Diff'rent strokes and all that

Hmmm... Found that 3 tons of AC20 does the job for me.
This is a medium any....Out of ammo, it is time to dance with 3 medium lasers.

The dev probably can access the DB to see what are the popular builds and pick one from there as champion.
I have been running mine with loadout identical to the champion ever since I got my BJ1, occasionally swapping in a GR or LBX for fun.
AC/20 w 3t ammo
3x MLaz
11 DHS
XL 235
1 JJ
With max engine, it is fast enough to chase down damaged mech and finish them off with the 3 MLaz.

It's a neat little setup. When is the geometry pass coming for this chassis. The AC20 looks like an AC2 at the moment.

I think that has a lot more to do with the dynamic hardpoints (the BJ is a post-Highlander mech) that were added that hasn't been really revisited yet (kinda like the current Catapult ears situation). It's not the BJ per se... but the "lack of distinction" between the weapons. For instance, the PPC looks exactly like the ERPPC, and the ACs/Gauss more or less are the same.

Maybe being community manager of a game like this is getting to you. It is hard to be upright in an atmosphere of negativity, but good PR guys don't take the bait. The only emotion you should express is positivity, and if you really feel like responding to an ****** like the guy you were responding to then at least do it neutrally. See I can say that because I'm not a PR guy.

I'd just would love sooo much to have a look on these statistics myself - for me, this would be amazingly interisting (me <-- number freak). And actually, by realeasing/showing some of those, you can very easily - like above - counter and calm down endless discussions on the forums very easily. Because the numbers dont lie. But i understand that you might be concerned about the endless discussion on the interpretation of the numbers then :P

regards,
Al

PS: btw ... colors are screwed up when quoted

I am pretty sure it means that they have all the numbers on how many players make how many games with which loadout and how they come out of those games. And how these numbers change when they change the gameplay or tune some weapons. They see how many players use 6PPC loadout, before and after PPC weapon balancing, ghost heat etc. and then draw their conclusion to balance the game. I think these statistics is quite an underestimated, powerful tool for them to adapt the game while it evolves - just remember those statistics they once put in the forum with the paths players take, where they die/kill beeing highlighted by different colors. And how the introduction of the ship on forest changed this pattern over time. Heck they know exactly what percentage of kills take place in the platform on terra therma or on any other point of any map. And what weapon is causing the most of the kills, the highest damage just by the way these are actually used by the player base.

All of this ... we will never see though :P

Its popular because Sean Lang used it in a no gut no galaxy live stream. But the trial version had huge issues because ammo was stuffed into the CT LL RL and Head to get the 28 shots for the cannon. Making it a walking ammo blow with the XL added in.

If its popular and, your making money off it great. I would suggest some minor modifications. Like dumping 2 tons of ammo.

Sean Lang is a ammo happy type of guy. This would be the Corbon approved version doing about 30 damage. With 34% heat and 3.62DPS. I'm also short one heat-sink so drop a JJ and half ton of armor or 2 JJ. Its late.

2nd one goes faster with less JJ.
