Hello my fellow MechWarriors,

When preparing the next patch, we found that the Object.pak file was about to exceed the 2GB size limit on a tool we use.

With all the new content coming in future patches, we needed a better way to package it all.
To prevent this issue happening again we moved files from the Object.pak file to their own unique PAK file. This means users will see a big patch this week because we have to patch the Object.pak file and patch/add the new PAK files. As a result, the next patch will be approximately 1.3GB.

We are sorry for the trouble of the increased patch size this week; However, this should be a one-time thing.
For the inconvenience, on patch day: We will be issuing all players that have logged in after August 19th, 2013 with one (1) day of Premium Time.

UPDATE 18-NOV-2013: The cut-off for this free premium time bonus is November 18th, 2013 at 7PM (Pacific Standard Time). Only players who have logged in to the game client between August 19th, 2013 and 7PM tonight will receive the free day of Premium Time.

Hopefully that will keep the file from corrupting as much.

Thanks!

I don't mind at all when a big patch is created by lots of new content.

The day of Premium Time is icing on the cake.

I like big patches and I cannot lie. You other brothers can't deny. When a patcher rolls in with a itty bitty waste and object pack in yo face you get sprung!

Add that to a music-video of bikini-clad girls shaking their huge patches.

Thanks for the heads up, Niko! My total bandwidth is limited by month and this would have been a bad surprise. At least now I can make arrangements to download it elsewhere.

From probably the only guy that plays MWO over 4G.

I don't play it over 4G but I am with you on the limited bandwidth.

....should be fine this month though. ;)

The early notice is much appreciated even though it does not affect me. The free day of premium time is absolutely the right thing to do and is even more appreciated. A nice bonus to the massive discount on 30-day premiums! I assume this type of thing happens all the time indoors in terms of engineering issues but thanks for explaining the problem to us!

nice thing splitting up the big pak file.
it got corrupt a lot of times for me in the last weeks and the repair had to download it again and again and again.
more small files are nice!

I guess free is. To those like me who have no use for Premium time (more c-bills and more XP), what is the point? A free Hero mech would've made more sense.
