Check out the post from yesterday about hit boxes.

UPDATE (Nov 14)

You will see the first pass at the above specified Mechs on the Nov 19th patch.

I just want to clairify one other thing. The above Mechs are NOT the only ones being looked at. ALL Mechs will be undergoing this evaluation and any updates will be released in packs like above.

The four mechs in question are the Awesome, Atlas, Orion, and Spider.

I had thought we were just getting the Awesome hit boxes reworked (and was disappointed that it was next week's patch, instead of this week).

Now reading this about "reworked in packs" and the quote from Reddit we can expect all four to be "fixed" on Tuesday.

Good news.

Specfically about the Awesome from Garth Erlam on Reddit.

I wonder what they will do with the Awesome as there are no geometry changes, and a barn door is still a barn door.

The idea is to make it more 'tanky'. The CT will be smaller, arms/ST's bigger. You'll be able to lose locations and have those locations not be the CT :(

You simply better hope these changes don't outright cripple the 9M, let alone the PB.

If parts of the arm hitboxes are not "super sized Centurion-like", then the XL will make the barn doors that much wider.

Just to clarify

All they may end up doing is giving these mechs a "Mech thong" and apart from that may not make any other adjustments whatsoever to the rest of the problem children.

Do I hope they do what's right? Ofc.

But don't get your expectations up thinking that the awesome will suddenly have a sliver of a CT or the Spider will magically be able to be hit.

It may be true but the only confirmed change mentioned so far is the "mech thong", that's it.

They may find reason to change things they may not.

Hu, I guess it might be a good thing that I was thinking of getting Orion's.

Such changes are long overdue, but welcome no matter how late.

I can finally pilot the spider again, been in storage since the OP claims started surfacing.

For me I just want a mech that can take hits and use all of its armor to protect itself, and not just the CT that gets hit no mater which direction you torso twist away.

I had sold my Awesomes almost immediately as I found that they just went down faster than my Centurions. I just could not do anything to stay alive long enough to have any fun with them.

I do like my Orions, but again they're not as survivable as other mechs I have because they can't use their side armor that often. You just get hit in the CT all the time.

Also, both of those tend to be bullet magnets as people sense an easy kill and go for you. In fact I do the same thing, and single out the "vulnerable" mechs first just because I know I can get rid of those glass cannons and then mop up the actual threats later when we have a numbers advantage.

Awesome's are still going to suck, they will just suck less.

They need to change the geometry or it will always suck.

Probably, but maybe not. I don't think it's really that much wider than any other assault mechs, though ghost heat and lack of jump jets will definitely still keep it from being top-tier.

I personally don't really care though; as long as it's OK-ish enough to justify using for fun in pug matches. Something will always be on the bottom, but the bottom shouldn't have be that far down.

Love it! I love the Orion builds and what it can do. Hopefully they fix it as good as the Kintaros. The Awesome is seriously long overdue. We all know the grossly bugged Spiders are about to have their arse handed to them. No more easy mode!. Pay back for you bastages! ;)

unless you come across a real pilot who just drives circles around you in his spider regardless. they're out there, not just baddies in troll builds, but actual masters of the light mech. they'll still be around, and they'll still frustrate the hell out of you :-P

Awesomes are ok.

The hitbox adjustments are welcome especially on 8R. Another thing would be to increase the engine cap for all of them to match 9M.

I don't mind good lights pilots. I mind lights that don't register the hits I know I've landed. I don't need to argue it with anyone to know I've hit too. I hit em just fine with my AC20s. When the HSR and server gods are smiling Spiders go splat. Fast. When not, they flit by with nary a scratch. Good or bad light pilot doesn't come into the equation at all. You really can't buck and weave faster than I can wiggle my reticle. Surprise.

--------
By way of personal confirmation I took the Spider champion out for a spin a few times. It was ridiculously easy. I no longer participate in these Spider threads because I know what I know. Moving on.....
--------

I think the Atlas founder is also getting the pelvic area split out to left and right leg just as the Cbill Atlases are.

I don't think the founder head geometry is changing, and the eyeball hitbox void of death was patched recently. So I don't know if they're doing anything to his melon.

Curious if they change anything else. I honestly don't know if they'd try to buff the Atlas or nerf it. I do know that people don't shoot anything but the ST and CT on Atlai. I only lose an arm when the torso goes, and I've only been legged once since the BEGINNING of CB.

Regardless I still keep my legs heavily armored. Will be interesting to see what people shoot at now when they discover the number of assaults that have stripped their legs - I'm looking at you, Stalker pilots ;)

AFAIK one of the PGI leaders said they defocused on legging because they thought that was "not fun" (paraphrasing). Apparently we've now evolved beyond that artificial thing. Legging was a big part of TT and past titles and the lore. So I'm glad to see this pelvic hitbox changed to legs and a sliver of CT. On all mechs.

I expect to be limping alot more in the future. Looking forward to it.

Are you aware that you have separate class Elo?

Meaning if you don't usually pilot lights and jump into a light you will be matched against other "new" players.

Not assuming this to be the case, or arguing the case for spiders. Just trying to grasp what part of piloting lights you feel was "easy".

I'm all for better shield arms but they better not screw with the st of my 9m in a negative way, otherwise I'll have to go standard engines =\

Edit - 385xl down to around 340 standard is only 9km slower if I lose some heat sinks and drop the one lpl to a normal LL

Look at this drop my static premade ran last night...

I think anybody will eventually have a game worthy of taking a screenshot of the ending scoreboard. I have several.

The point is how consistent can you pull off great scores like that? Specifically how consistent can you be in any of the Awesome mechs.

Like I mentioned above, I would usually die after inflicting about 150 damage with my Awesomes. My Centurions performed better, so I reluctantly sold the Awesome and stuck to my Centurions with the odd mech here and there to break the monotony up, but I still want to run in the Awesome and not feel like I'm a sitting duck.

Tuesday can't come fast enough. But, I don't have my hopes up just in case.
