I think narc would see more use if it could be used to reveal targets within 180 meters of target in addition to providing lock on ability to the narced target.

No. Too powerful.

Narc is a homing beacon -- a Pied Piper for your side's LRMs. No need to make it anything more.

I'd be happier if NARC acted like a single target UAV effect with TAG effect built in. The idea of NARC giving the info on not just the target, but everything near the target, is a bit too much.

NARC needs some strong buffs but this is gone too far.

And infinite health, It always gets destroyed by the first volley of LRMS, making it much worse than TAG

Greetings all,

The Narc is currently not being emplemented as it was designed from the Canon.

Reference:
The Narc Missile Beacon is a missile homing utility that can be planted on enemy targets, causing friendly SRMs and LRM missiles (even those that do not traditionally have homing capabilities) to lock on to them. They are particularly useful when used in tandem with LRMs.

- Read they also effect SRM's, which we are not seeing in the game.
- The incoming missiles are only effected by ECM if the Narc is within the "bubble" while they track to the tgt. Once the tgt is outside the ECM they continue to seek the Narc Pod.
- There is no time limit referenced, but if the area on the mech where the Narc is attached is destroyed the Narc bonus ends. [target area specific damage, not overall damage]

What we have now:
Narc Beacon
50% bonus to missile tracking strength
50% faster missile lock on time
Target lock takes 25% longer to decay
Min 1 ton of ammo needed (12 shots/ton).
Does not require LOS once attached to target.
Lasts 20 seconds
ECM cancels NARC beacons in range.
"Falls" off after 35points of missile damage hits the affected 'Mech

So yes more work needs to be given to the narc, it is a powerful specialized device that requires coordinated work between the Narc equipped mech and the missile launch platforms. The short range of the Narc launcher requires that fast carrier unit to risk intense enemy fire to place it payload on target. A longer beacon homing time would be more in line with the risk of using that device. Or as in the canon, no time limit but eliminated when the targeted component part is destroyed.
