eh. A cool idea, but right now pretty much everything is being pushed towards clan weapons and their development on the inside, so the answer would probably be 'maybe after clans' in the mythical solaris-themed expansion that will bring other semi-experimental mischief with it (and the rumored melee option!).

I would like to see more of these alternate weapons systems coming in, the blaser, the mech-mortar, and so on, with different firing behaviors and gameplay feel from other members of their weapons family. They technically exist, and more variety on the field and more options for mechlab-ing is always fun.

I'd like it, it would make the Spider 5V more viable as well as other energy hardpoint restricted chassis.

On the one hand I really like the idea... on the other hand, PGI will see this as a move towards more pinpoint damage, even though you could easily make this weapon not worth it due to the high heat and the ability to spread out the damage simply by
