Watch these shot progressions ... look at the paperdoll of the cent.

Look at the shoulder.

Now it appears to me that when the rear shoulder armor and actual shoulder is blown out, the armor still remains and is now taking damage that should be going to the CT. Does this make sense? After the part is destroyed, should the front armor remain taking damage from the back?

maybe I am reading this wrong.

I think what happens is that a fractional hit point of internal structure remains. At less than 1 but more than 0 it displays as destroyed but isn't quite. If you do even a tiny bit more damage the shoulder will blow the rest of the way and take the arm with it.

actually the 3rd volly of the 3 lbx10s blew out the shoulder, i kept firing cause I didnt believe what I was seeing. I kept firing at the core cause I couldnt understand how the shoulder armor was still there and the CT front was taking damage. Which is why this is a picture after 5 lbx 10 shots -- I was so baffled I had to take a picture.

Hitting a broken arm or shoulder reduces the damage transfered to the next section by half. So hitting a destroyed RT halves the damage to the CT armor. Hitting the broken arm of the Cent transfers 50% of that damage to the broken RT which is halved again to 25% to the CT. This combined with the big arms and torsos of the cent makes it one of the most durable mechs in the game if it doesn't get cored at range.

This is also why I only target the torso of a cent if it's already down to internals otherwise I just leg it. Granted as a light pilot I've learned to leg lots of things.

I was more interested in the armor sticking around after the component is destroyed.... and look at the last frame above -- the other arm is damaged.

The only reason I was playing around with this was because I 3 shotted a spider (from 90 M) in the back (he was stationary) and had his whole body turn yellow (front and back) -- its nothing about the cent in particular.
