Atlas:

- Hitbox geometry aligned better to the render geometry.
- Tighter corridor for Center Torso (it's smaller and sides are bigger).
- Pelvis adjusted for damage disbursement to left and right leg instead of all center torso.
- This BattleMech will still be investigated.

does this mean that when i shoot a atlas in the nutzack the damage spreads to both legs or one?

either way this is a bad addition to the game next thing you will see is weapon disbursement from CT to other chassis parts (e.g. left/right torso, arms etc) to disable pin point damage.

You will only damage both legs if you use a splash damage or spread damage weapon when aiming at his junk. Otherwise, which leg you damage will depend on how far to either side you shoot (more to the left = left leg, etc.). You can still damage his CT via hitting his junk if you aim directly at the center of it, because of the CT "thong" as Paul likes to put it.

ok thanks......

just hope this isnt how they plan to deal with pinpoint damage!! i dont know what other people think but i dont like the idea of damage spread in mwo, it could quiet easily result in the games death.

The hitbox changes don't cause "spread" in any different way than what we had prior to today. It simply makes some body parts larger, and some parts smaller (in terms of hitboxes; models are unchanged).

it not the way it reads. at least its only 2 mechs atm. ill be upset if they make the same change to stalkers being that the nutzack is the easiest way to get a CT hit

what's wrong with having the skill to hit the actual hindenberg part of the torso? that's what pinpoint gives you the ability to do if you can aim.

crotch crutch shooting eliminated any need to torso twist which results in more noob play than pinpoint alphas. still if you want people brought down to that "i iz aiming" level then complain away.

if i see a cored stalker i know where ill be shooting......

im not interested in blowing other parts off when i can kill a cored mech outright.

and you can just aim better. surely you don't need your hand to be held with an easy target box? are you dependant on stuff like that to beat mechs?

I for one am glad that hitboxes are finally being looked at. For to long now some mechs have had CT that were to large and side torsos that were small. Or Head hitboxes that were to big or small. Hitboxes need to be adjusted on a per mech basis and it looks like that's what they are doing. In Classic BT it was just a random dice roll that determined where damage went - even if you did an aimed shot it still came down to a dice roll !
Hopefully with hitbox sizes more evened out it'll produce a better balance instead of constantly getting killed because your CT has been blown out.

i don't really care if hit box size is changed. but there is no place for randomness in a online pvp sim.

you're right about the harsh snarky overtones but there's no fun in derp ct kills which has plagued the game for ages, for a system with double armour imlemented you shouldn't get a kill off such little participation unless you're aim is almost worthy of headshots or you shot the enemy in the back.

game is just too easy to frontload damage on one spot and kill outright, by sliming the main hitboxes down this improves survivability, right to retaliate and gives alot more gameplay for all players.

if you can aim and by you strong stance you sound like you can, then shooting the curved CT of a stalker shouldn't be a problem for you.

hitbox adjustment is not about randomising your shots it just means critical componants are smaller and thus knocking them out with skillfull aim is more rewarding and average brawling will last longer.

read more about it here.

Hit box sizes need to be adjusted for a few mechs. They do not accurately reflect the size of the particular area on that mech. You could be aiming for the right torso and hit the CT instead. That is my point.

Of course it's not supposed to be random - the point is that we used to (in TT) be subjected to the randomness of the dice and now we're not (thank goodness). So the hitboxes better reflect where we are trying to hit because if they don't it's just like rolling the dice !

It can also be frustrating if you're in a mech and you know a hitbox is sized wrong and it kills you. Of course you can try to protect the area a bit but in in the middle of the furball - can't always do that.

You know the top of the blimp is CT too right? So is everything directly above and below the nose. In fact about half of the blimp is CT, as it's been divided neatly into four sections of torso, with the left and right section being the sidetorsos and the top and bottom being the CT.
