Ill take time away from complaining to compliment something.
The devs have really found the sweet spot imo concerning visual damage indicators for mechs.
watching weapons fire hit the enemy is visually great. Kudos to the amount of shake they receive and the ragdoll when they die is constantly amusing.
Kudos. well done.

Also, idk if its different than before, but i noticed that ac rounds do drop , a little, but enough at distance so that there is a bir more realism. nice.

Agreed. Watching a dead chassis tumble down a hill side always leaves me wanting to have a video capture app running, which I never do. ;)

The best I ever saw was when I popped a Cicada in the water next to the Citadel in RC. He was right below it, maybe 30-40 meters out and turning toward the section below Upper when he died. I then watch him skip across the water like a stone, flipping head over heels the whole way, across the entire breadth of the river until he impacted the wall. I almost couldn't finish the match, as I couldn't stop laughing.

On caustic, a highlander jump jetted and got stuck on top of the base. He was wiggling, etc., you know how they do when a mech clips into another model. Anyways, when he died, he rocketed maybe 100ft in the air and landed out in the water. Hilarious stuff - post-match everyone stayed for a bit to talk about it.

It is well done, although there is one thing I miss from older mw titles. That is when the mech would go critical and blow up...always liked that. :D

didn't they actually downgrade all the visual damage cues?
like in closed beta i remember seeing a whole bunch of stuff going on when i shot mechs
the one i remember the most is how the mechs glowed which was cool :)

In the first pic, the mech has a part blown off, but you don't have it targeted so you can't tell. In the second one, the mech still has most of his armor. That's the difference between the two.

In beta a while back, a mech that was taking a lot of fire would start to glow where it was hit. I really liked that effect, as an Atlas under fire from multiple mechs would start to glow bright yellow wherever it was being hit. Was a great way to tell who was being focus fired. Now it's a bit more challenging, but you can still easily tell what mechs are damaged and where by watching the smoke and looking for the armor damage skins.

i think they used to glow too much. THats why i said i think they got the sweet spot. Its nice to look at, tactically important visually and doesnt have so much glow that in pretend MW land they would never design a mech that glowed like the sun when it had rounds impact.

In pretend mech land if you heat up a piece of ceramic armor a few thousand degrees with bursts of 500kw lasers, it's going to glow whether or not you you designed it to happen. :D

I do miss the "swarm" flight pattern of LRMs from the closed beta. I remember that being a big draw to me. While seeing a swarm of 20's take flight is still impressive, the intimidation factor has gone down a bit.

Minor qualm, but still...

I personally love when you slam a shell into the side shoulder of a mech, how it jerks back with real impact. Atlas are real easy to see this happen on.

Also, when an ammo explosion or engine explosion happens to cause death, it will shunt the mech sideways as a result. If there are multiple ammo explosions, you see each one happen realtime on the mech.

They did a good job on all that :)

I have been inside a mech when this happened, was in one of my Trebuchet's pretty sure it was from ammo explosion in my 7K.

Was like a damn Apollo Launch. Too funny. :)
