there is big green button with LAUNCH word on it, in right up corner
but in the first place you need a choose one mech from trial mechs, or one from your mechlab if you own one already.

You might have misinterpreted MWO for a browsergame. That is not the case.
You need to download the installer (http://mwomercs.com/game/download) and execute it on your PC. Please see the system specifications on the download page to make sure your PC is able to run the game.
After the installation is complete and the gameclient is patched to the most recent version, you start the game with the desktop shortcut the installer will provide.

This is still very far from user friendly isn't it?
The Launch button at the top right sets off a match and I would recommend using the small button to the left of that to select assault mode.
The best advice I can give though is to go through these forums. It WILL save you from making A LOT of mistakes. I speak from bitter experience.
Any question you ask will get a good answer, the people here are always keen to help. And bicker. And provide their opinion. Loudly.

I'll note that the game is quite free!
You always have four free trial mechs to run. You cannot modify them, but they are now Champion variants (which is to say, they are custom variants with functonal loadouts)
For your first 25 matches you will earn a big fat bonus every match. In total it is about 8 million C-bills. Spend it wisely. It will enable you to buy your own battlemech with C-bills (still free!). Once the cadet bonus has ended you will earn a normal amount per match which may seem like a lot less but that's the real earnings without a starter bonus.
You have a limited number of mechbay slots (4) with which to fill with free battlemechs. Access to additional mech bay slots will begin to cost you real money currency (
