Ladies and gentlemen,

It is my pleasure to proudly announce a use case for single heat sinks that makes them more efficient than doubles.

I give you:

The Refrigerator

I confess that this is not an entirely original idea. I first saw it used to startling effect by none other than the great Harrison Ford himself, to avoid the unpleasant kinetic effects of an improved air strike:

Now if someone could post a video of it in action. I would do it personally, but I'm too poor to afford the cost of upgrading my doubles to singles!

Fool... DHS master race shows your pitiful attempt at a fridge with THE Refrigerator X (more surviable due to standard engine, 4% more heat capacity and cooling speed and a little more armor on the legs to top it off... and 2 million cheaper).

The only use of SHS is the common Commando-2D Streak build.

Outside of that, ahahahahahahahahahahaha, no.

SHS have no use in this game.

Do not attempt to make them work outside cliche double Gauss builds.

1. That's a Locust.
2. You're using an SPL on a mech with very limited ranged weaponry (an ML is much better for versatility in this case).
3. That's a Locust.
4. You actually CAN fit in 3 DHS on that build just fine.
5. You will never live long enough to burn through 3 tons of MG ammo with only 4 MGs.
6. Did I mention that it's a Locust?

The Locust 1V is the only mech in the game with viable builds (well, the mech itself isn't viable, but bear with me) that require SHS. 1 ER LL with 4 MGs is a good example, but unfortunately I can't be bothered to build it in smurfy for you.

Anyway, stop making these threads, or PGI will use them as an excuse to say that SHS is working as intended.

Builds like this for the AS7-RS have been floating around for months. Nobody uses them, because they're not really good builds. I mean, your build is pretty much a stock, unupgraded AWS-8Q with an XL engine.

That is indeed an excellent build you have made Zerberus! I think we have definitely proved that single heat sinks have their place, and aren't as nerfed as people say they are. However, I must confess that I believe even the mighty Refrigerator Z seems to be lacking somewhat. Perhaps it's the lack of weapons (although 3 ppcs is *plenty* imo), or the fact that to jump, it requires an Atlas to stand on the other end of the seesaw? I don't know, maybe if there was a way to reach a compareable heat dissipation efficiency with half the tonnage? Perhaps the heatsinks could be consolidated somehow...

Swapping to DHS lets you do this:

HGN-732

Same heat efficiency, adds a JJ, uses a STD engine (same rating), and better armor coverage.

Edit: You even have the slots with it to add Endo and max your armor, though it'd leave you under weight by just over 3.5 tons.

I used to run a CN9-A with endo, ferro, 250 STD, 2 MLs, 10 SHS, and a Gauss w/30 rounds. Did it need doubles? No. But admittedly, it would be better with them.

when are people going to learn SHSvsDHS as configured with the engine bonuses means there's no way SHS can ever get ahead ever. they're a waste of code

This isn't true though, I thought the same thing on my 1V with a medium laser and 4 MGs. "Wow I don't need DHS on this!" than.. I dropped on Terra Therma and was promptly reminded that SHS suck as each 1% cooling was taking over a second to tick down.

So yeah..

edit: typos

Yeah, I initially tried SHS on my Phoenix locust but quickly found out they dissipate heat much too slowly. In a word, they're worthless.
