So I have some issues with the map Frozen City. The textures of some buildings and hills on this map are flickering and become just a grey surface. I have no such issue on any other map, and the issue only appeared to me when I formatted my PC and installed Windows 8.1 64bit; before I used Windows 7 64bit and it was working without any issues. The hardware didn't change since then.

Other friends who use Windows 7 didn't seem to have such issues, but my only other friend who uses Windows 8 has the exact same issue all the time on this map as well, so I assume it has to do with Windows 8 (or it is just a rather big coincidence).

Besides Windows 8 we both also use a Core i5-3570k and an AMD graphics card (I have a 6950, he has a 5750), just to mention some additional commonalities, maybe it is relevant. My drivers including graphics drivers are all up to date, cannot tell if this applies to my friend as well.

It's a "rather big coincidence" as you put it. It's been an issue for a while now, but was more prevalent several months ago. Affects people with Win7 and Win8. It used to happen to me about 50% of the time I went onto Frozen City (either one) or Alpine Peaks. I thought they had it fixed completely, but it happened again -- just once -- about two or three weeks ago. Haven't had it since.

Ah, ok, I see then. So I assume there is not much to do about it for us currently? Quite annoying, although I guess we will have to live with it.

Have you tried running the MWO repair tool? also have you tried deleting your shader file?

Yes, and yes. No errors found. I delete the shader file after it gets done patching (before playing any matches) every patch day. Did that back when it was a common problem, with no effect. Like I said, I thought they had eradicated it, but it seems to be sneaky.

Had it again early this morning on Frozen City Night. Played the map several times, only happened once. Weird.

I get this to and it seems its nothing we can do. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes not. The missing textures seems to happen mostly on weekends and prime time when there are most people playing.

So doesnt matter what you do.

Try activating V-sync. Used to happen to me all the time. I've never liked using V-sync, but this seems to fix it. Don't know why though, since textures have nothing to do with frame and refresh rates.

V-sync has nothing to do with it, at least in my case. The problem doesn't happen often any more. Haven't had it at all since my last post. I have made no changes to settings or anything beyond installing new graphics drivers as Nvidia releases them.

You can manually cause this by alt-tabbing. Typically this is usually shown in the form of warped textures on mechs where "damage decals" are supposed to be. But on Frozen City you can make the buildings turn gray.
