Right now, you have a gallery of Mechs. You pick one, you fight with it, it gets damaged, and after the fight it gets scrapped and you get a brandnew one for your gallery.

The mere ability to save the Mech-status after a match would open several possibilities:
1. It would ease an introduction of a repair/rearm-feature further down the road.
2. It would open a possibility to introduce a later implementation where you load a damaged Mech-status and enter a match with it, instead of using the template.
3. Showing off.

The advantages:
1. A repair/rearm-feature would make CW more realistic.
2. Entering matches with damaged Mechs would allow for "kumite"-style tournaments where you (and/or your team) have to fend off wave after wave of opponents while your Mech(s) gets worse and worse. And with each round you personally survive, your personal bonus will increase exponentially. Add a medaillon with the maximum number of rounds you survived and players have some bling to decorate their cockpit with.

You should read the threads about repair and rearm. There are some problems which makes it very hard for beginners or non veteran players to compete or to get new mechs. The c-bill earning is so low that it will take a lot more time to get new mechs/item etc. and as a beginner for example your are punished for you low skill by higher repair cost.

R&R is impossible with the current player base. It is only interesting for veterans or highly skilled players.

There are many exaples just look at other games. WarThunder for example. Each aircraft have amount of repair/rearm free runs per day and after should 100% repair and rearm. I think this is better than without R&R at all

We've been over this already. No. Not unless you want to make the new player experience EVEN MORE unfriendly than it already is.

Plus, those people who like to boat missiles would be frothing at the mouth because they fire all their missile ammo and make no money after paying to re-arm.

The costs for R&R are no problem: An expensive variant that r&r's your mech instantly and a cheap variant that locks it for 15 minutes.

you seem to have no concept of R&R.

You make 85k in one match but you died and used all your ammo.
this costs 93k to get the ammo back, repair the mech and rebuild whatever was broken.
You loose money.
if you do not have enough money you drop damaged/cant drop at all/forced to use trial mechs

say you are a new player and have just bought your first mech and are working on getting DHS, if you loose money every match, which is more than possible, you will either be forced to play trials and not the mech you are trying to work on, or you say screw this and quit.
i expereinced it in beta with my stupid hunchbacks but i love mechwarrior too much to actually stay away. most wouldnt

R&R would only make sense in some sort of campaign-stlyle gameplay.
