Problem: DC to mechlab in many matches, session lost errors, network errors. I have a 50mbps down 6mbps up connection which is stable and consistent outside of MWO.

Background: Ran pingplotter and I am getting heavy packet loss in the atlas cogentco area. Tried to do some research and read that they use QOS so I looked at my modem and my router and saw that my router has a QOS option enabled.

Hardware: DLINK-657, Hardware AI A1, Firmware 1.0

Current Settings: Enable QOS Engine, Automatic Classification, Dynamic Fragmentation - all checked.

Question: Can I SAFELY disable any of these options and could I expect it to impact the network issues if I did? I haven't done it yet because I don't want to be screwing around with my network security and I don't have a good idea of what could be problematic if I turned it off.

Explanations from Manual:

Quote

  • Enable QoS Engine - Enable this option for better performance and experience with online games and other interactive applications, such as VoIP.
  • Automatic Classification - This option is enabled by default so that your router will automatically determine which programs should have network priority. For best performance, use the Automatic Classification option to automatically set the priority for your applications.
  • Dynamic Fragmentation - This option should be enabled when you have a slow Internet uplink. It helps to reduce the impact that large low priority network packets can have on more urgent ones by breaking the large packets into several smaller packets.

Also these were the ping plotter results, but I am not sure if anyone will read them or if there is any meaningful information to be found...
