I'm currently a part of the Kurita Teamspeak server. They have been very helpful and very friendly with me while I learn the ropes better. But I wanted to ask the general forums here what tips you have for participating on TeamSpeak during matches.

FOR EXAMPLE: Sometimes I find myself feeling a bit lost during certain things such as when someone in my lance on the TS calls out a contact (IE "bravo"), and I can't find that particular one in time to help with focus fire, or when/if I should call out a certain contact for them myself. I'm not usually sure of the different circumstances that these things apply to and how to coordinate with it.

Are there certain times it is better to use more communication than other times?

And whatever other things there are to point out, I'm all ears...... heheh... (I primarily drive a Cat ;))

Targeting "Bravo" can be tricky since the LOCK key will cycle to things near your Crosshairs. Try to aim generally where you think your team is firing and look for the Filled triangle. Whatever Bravo is it will be a Filled not an empty Triangle.

Different groups have different names for certain areas of a map but some are universal like "Armpit" on Alpine or "Lower City" and "Upper City" on River City. Learn your groups names for locations!

Since you are in the back in a Catapult your priority is watching everyone's back and not being Zoomed in. Call a contact and target if it something they can't see! "CONTACT REAR, CHARLIE, HUNCHBACK!" Notice the order... where, target name, type that part is important!

Don't interrupt! For god sake don't say I'm lost during a firefight, wait for a lull or go die quietly in a corner!

KEEP IT BRIEF! Don't blabber on with stories at the beginning. If it takes more than 3 seconds to say you are doing it wrong!

Since you are flying a Catapult there is a tendency to lag behind and lose your group, maintain a range of 200m from whoever you think is LEAD at the moment. Do not stick to his behind like glue... they need the room to fall back if needed. This will also help you pick out Bravo more easily since you can see which direction they are shooting!

This is a fair start for you and I hope it helped!

When you hit "R" to target a victim, look above the Red Box and there will be a letter..

Everyone is a little bit different when calling targets in my experience. The best thing to do once the action gets hot is to try and focus fire on a target that someone else is firing at even if you can't target that mech, trust your eyes. When I command a drop I usually state at the beginning of a match how I want the comms to run. If you don't know exactly what to expect then just make sure you ask your drop commander and they will tell you what they expect of you.

1) When you call out a target, let people know if you're simply letting them know where it is ("Bravo is a Cent in C4") or if you're focusing on it ("Priming Bravo Cent in C4")

2) Try to give coordinates for mechs and your location. "Help" isn't useful without a location.

3) Try to learn the names of your teammates (in game). "Dude, I'm on your right" is less useful than "Axenrot, coming around on your right"

4) General chat is fine, but let in game talk take precidence when the firing starts. Nothing frustrates players more than not being able call for help or prime a target because someone else is talking about their jock itch.

5) Don't overshare with strangers (See the above jock itch comment). You might eventually get to know these guys more, but until then, just don't.

6) Feel free to ask questions and ask for help. Plenty of folks love to help new players, or educate players who want it.

7) Try not to backseat drive (unless asked). Many players don't mind, but some do. If you feel you must, try to do it nicely.

8) Watch your language. The occasional swear is fine. Swearing like a sailor or pre-teen COD player might not be appreciated.

The armpit is on Frozen City. Small valley at the highest point of the ridgeline, nestled against the cliff. Tsk.

That's right armpit is frozen city. Sniper hill is alpine, the ridge past the radio tower.

Axen seen as you have run with me on several occasions, your TS comms is pretty good. Target Identification, threat and location calls get better from yourself with time, as well as understanding when someone else is talking. If in doubt about a target ID, press your Q key (Default Keybindings). This pulls up all target identifications, including friendlies, and is often the quickest way to identify the target being focused.

If in doubt, query the location, nobody is going to get upset about a genuine questions, or "Where the heck is charlie???" especially as sometimes groups can be seperated a bit, and someone could be calling focus on a target you can't see, get to quickly.

See this is what I mean about group specific ;)

The armpit is also the area in Alpine near the Radio Tower where if you start Radio Tower side you can stop and look at where the poor suckers started and where they are headed.

Great question and great answers!!

One thing I will add is if you get grief for what you are doing in comms, then it's either them being jerks, or you being a jerk. Figure out which it is, then fix the problem.

Pro tip: If multiple groups are being jerks, you are just having bad luck. You are awesome, just like mommy always said!!

This isn't relevant, but I'm a big fan of Opeth too. ;)
