733 because missiles (SRM is meh, and I don't LRM)
733P because there are better energy boats + missiles.

732, 733C and Heavy Metal are the 3 best for the current meta.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I thought you'd say, but appreciate the reasons. The 733P is the one I'm still going back and forth on. I 100% agree with you on missiles and thus the 733 is the one pretty much "eliminated from consideration" at this point.

Heavy Metal is definitely worth it if you buy Hero mechs.

You built a naked mech! After using "strip mech," you will need to add armor back. When starting in Smurfy, my first steps are: strip mech, max armor, add endo, add DHS. That's just given, then I get to work.

Yeah, I'm pretty much settled on 733C, HM & 732. Didn't get HM on sale, but I did get cheap MC today. B)

Hmm, yes maybe,

But I can handle and manage anything from 1,06 heat efficiency (that is my worst setup) 1,2 is pretty ok for me and anything with better eff. its just fine for me.

But I dont know what is 24% in smurfys page in the mechlab of MWO game?

Smurfy is an estimate of what % of your max firing by rate you can actually do considering heat. I use it only and am extremely uncomfortable under 35%. Never have made sense of the game's #s.

I personally hate LPLs (PPC better at same weight), but even so, you could drop one for cooling/ACupgrade/both. I am still learning my VTRs (haven't gotten to HGNs yet), but I think you're missing the boat not maximizing your ballistics. JMO, but I start with the ballistics and go from there.

Maybe I will change one LPL for normal LS or ML, SRM6 for SRM4 and add some heatsink, I can understand your point but I wanted something different from my others mechs, I have almost all possible builds and I wanted try something different, my first idea was something with relative small AC gun, 3xLPL some SRMS and quick XL engine, but now I dont have enough money for XL engine, so I can try it only in smurfys page.

my others highlanders builds:

HEAVY METAL:
XL 285 engine
1x GAUSS GUN
3x LARGE LASERS (you can shoot together without problems)
1x SRM 6
15 DBL HS (1,32 eff.)
2x JJ
AMS

HGN-733C:
STD 275 engine
1x AC20
1x LARGE LASER
1x LARGE PULSE LASER
3x STREAK SRM2 (BEAGLE ACTIVE PROBE)
12 DBL HS (1,19 eff.)
2x JJ
AMS
CASE

So I wanted something different.

Since I'm bored and all my mechs are mastered, I picked up a 733P to screw around with. I'm running the following build:

XL325
2 PPCs
2 LLs (arm)
3 Streaks
BAP
2 JJs
18 DHS

One thing became immediately apparent with this mech/build - PPCs are just flat out inferior to ACs. In fact, large lasers are just flat out inferior to ACs. The overall amount of heat generated is just too high for energy builds to compete. I think it's time for PGI to back off on the energy weapon tax a bit. They went a bit too far imo.

Having just mastered energy-intensive Thuds, I agree. PPCs have a place, but start with the ballistics and fill in if you don't want to cook.

The ammo is supposed to be the limiting factor for acs but it really isn't. You can fire ac5s, ac10s, and even ac20s as much as you want and really not have to worry about heat. With 12 man's (vs 8s) I had to adjust a few builds but ammo really isn't a concern, it's rare to run out.

Honestly, acs could stand to have a ROF decrease to put thier dps more inline. In addition the heat system needs an overhaul.

I don't want ACs nerfed. I want energy buffed.

i dont want time to live getting any shorter, i want it getting higher. at least if you play laser boats now, your actually playing MWO as a "thinking mans shooter" wich is what it is billed as.

If I had to do it again I'd buy in this order: HM -> 733C -> 732 or 733.

As you can see, the P variant stands for 'Potato' since that's how effective it is. I'd recommend skipping it all together unless you love playing support.

Maybe you can boat streaks. That also works. Then add Dual PPCs and a ballistic of choice.

I went HM, 732 and of course 733C.

Avoid the P since you HAVE to have Ballistics on it.
