Your Favorite Ballstic Mech

Do you go for the heavies for more weapons or take the assault for the extra damage from other weapons? Or perhaps you go medium or light for maneuverability?
What is your favorite Ballistic weapon of choice? the high damage AC-20, or range of the Gauss?, or do you like the AC-5's or 10's... Any rare ducks that love machine guns?

I have another interesting and very fun Jager build with 2 ER LLs and 6 machine guns / 14000 rounds of ammo. It has some good punch with the ER lasers and the 6 machine guns can shred a mech that's already a little beat up.
My best performing ballistics platform is my Ilya with 3 LB10Xs. It's dangerous in a close-in brawl.

2 AC/5s on my Firebrand (don't have any other Jagers.... yet)
A variety of ACs on my Cataphracts, still trying to find a favorite build for them (3D, 1X, and Illya)
Dual AC/5s on my Atlas (DDC and D so far)
I love my MG Locust... win less with it, but I actually enjoy it more.
Paired AC/5 on my Shadowhawks that can fit it, an UAC/5 on the 2D2
Only ballistic I am not overly fond of is the AC/2, but that is more the Heat/Damage ratio, darn thing is worse than most energy weapons.

Edit: clarification on the Cataphracts.

This one however is actually pretty good all round.

(Inspired by NuclearPanda) 'The Crit-Cricket'. Definitely trying this when I'm reunited with my beloved PC.

Fragile but dps a lot at any range. If you see a target in advanced zoom, you can shoot it. MGs saved me a couple of time. A defensive weapon more than something else on that build that can't survive at Mg range..

2) Twin Gauss: Jagger
3) AC/5-Energy Hybrid: Cataphract/Highlander
4) 3-4 AC/5: Cataphract Ilya, Cataphract 4X
5) AC/2s: Why would I be running such a bad gun to start with?

If by tears up you mean "scratches some armor before going up in a painful and sudden ammo explosion" then it sure does.

1st: Not my favorite ballistic mech, but it fits your criteria perfectly. Shadowhawk. Multiple missiles + multiple autocannons = perfect fit.
2nd: I'm a jack of all trades. Whether it's the AC/20 Raven, the LB+MGs Hunch, the UAC/5 AC/5 Shadowhawk, the Gauss Wang, AC/5 AC/2 Trebuchet, 3 AC/2 + LB-10 + 2 MG Jager, Flamer Jager, Cataphracts, Orions, Victors, etc., there's something for every taste.
3rd: Depends on the mech. MGs, LBs are among my favorites but it depends on the mech and build.

Cataphract 4X w/ 4 AC5's was pretty fun. I think I had a couple ML's on too. Sold that mech after elite. Thinking about trying it again. It's just so damn slow. Was probably my closest "pure dakka" build.
Cataphract 3D LB10X/AC5/2ML/2MPL I feel has a nice balance to it and racks up consistent damage.
Shadowhawk 2H LB10X/2MG/ERLL/SRM4 has been a real monster. Unbelievable damage from a medium.
Heavy Metal I'm fooling around with a AC2/LB10X/3ML/2SRM4 right now. I may go 2xAC5 or 2xUAC5 on it instead.
Battlemaster -D I'm running LB10X/2 MG/3 ML/2 LL.

I've had 1300+ damage games with usually at least 4 kills that says otherwise

Close second would be jager S. It has a lot of successful ballistic loadouts.
Tied for third would be phract 3d with either dual ac10s and 4 mlas or dual gauss or the catapult K2 with dual lb10x and 4 mlas.
After that would be anything that fires an ac20 well, hunchback 4g/h, orions, atlas etc.

72 matches Catapult, Cat K2, Dual AC's, and a pair of PPC's.. it works pretty darn well, just have to be careful of center.. feels like the most powerful of the mech's i have played. Still not as fun as the HBK, but worth it.
131,Dragon DRG-5, this is the mech i used when i first started, i played most of the matches in the trial version with a Gauss, and a pair of Large lasers, i think it had an SRM4 too. I eventually bought my own (was the first mech i bought too) Played around with a lot of different combos. It has 3 Ballistic slots in the arm, so you can add multiple machine guns, or AC's, or even a Gauss rifle. toss in a SRM6 for added short range punch, or a SSRM for some back up fire power on those pesky lights. (perhaps an LRM 5 might be fun too, though i have not tried that) the other arm is energy so you can use that to help conserve your ammo.
436 matches, Hunchback, HBK-4G, Most with an AC-20, and either 3 ML's or 2 machine guns, with 3 SL backup. This one is a blast.. You have to watch the hump, but boy is it fun. Nothing more fun than getting some hits of opportunity, or out maneuvering a bigger mech, and blasting them to pieces. I think i will be doing some more playing with multiple ballistics on this guy though, as not to many mediums can pack in 3..
