What about Flag or deployable heat sinks. They could be a module or replace standard heat sinks. The heat sinks would need to be deployed and pop up out of the mech (like a flag!). Once they are exposed they can be easly to damged, however they would alow a mech quickly get rid of heat quickly.

There could be 3 types, the first can be deployed and undeployed at will. The second can be deployed at will however will only undeploy after a set time or reach a set heat level. The 3rd can not be used at will and would pop up at set a heat level.

They could be are very risky to use, especially in combat. As once they are deployed they could have no amour so are easly crit'd or distroyed ( with damage the mech, part or limb?). On top of this the sinks could glow and/or release a pilar of steam so they are easly spotted on the mech when used. They may also show up on radar when used, but can not be locked on by LRM's.

It would lead to a fun little risk or rewards,
Do I deploy in order to stop a shut down and the risk the exta damage?
Or do I expose myself on the map to rid some heat?
Or do I need to run to get rid of the heat?

What do you think?

Neat. Not very BattleTech, but that shouldn't be a limiter to our imagination.

I use them, but they'd be a ***** to balance.

On this note, I'd like to see Laser Heat Sinks
