Just played a game today where our team was made up of 8 lights, 1 med, 2 heavies, 1 assault.
There's was 5 assaults, 4 heavies, 2 meds, and 1 light.

Was like trying to stay dry while outside in a Super Typhoon.

Oh, and one of ours was a disco - not that it would have really mattered.

Fix matchmaking!

I agree.

The matchmaker is seriously F'ed up.

I've been in matches where we had 2 assaults, the enemy had 7.

Matchmaker in this game is absolutely off the rails, and it's borderline gamebreaking. More and more people now simply disconnect at start of the game if the team has less than 3 assaults, cause you know the enemy team will stomp you on tonnage.

Finally was able to post an image of the Mission Summary. I was surprised that we were even able to kill that many. Lol, match time was only 4:45, smh.

I'm glad you posted. I think it's really important that we get screenshots every single time there's even an ounce of weight imbalance. Very good job on a very necessary thread! A++++ would read again!

Your team pretty much matched them damage for damage. The winners should be ashamed and you should be proud! You fought better than they did. :D

How many times will I tell you people: I TOLD YOU SO!

A long, long time ago, I warned against demanding a "real" matchmaker and just keep the old, and very simple, class-based system. But, no, you folks just had to cry to the high heavens that you wanted one. Well, you have one now. Deal with it.

By the way,

I TOLD YOU SO!

Not even a fair fight, those poor Assaults wouldn't stand a chance!!

Seriously, if the OPs group would have worked together, they likely could have taken the enemy apart.

Also, the MM is working as intended. It matches based on supposed skill and not tonnage. CW should change that, until then, why should change something when it's already going to changed?

Learn to business, noob!! :D

The MM from closed beta was 5x better than what we deal with now. We see as much rolling now as we ever did before, and we get really F'ed up imbalanced matching to help it along.

The problem is that the fear of "premades" caused PGI to adopt a flawed Elo implementation that tries to evaluate skill and then uses that in addition to tonnage, rather than just using tonnage as the matchmaking determining factor.

The end result is that skill on both teams still tends to be poorly matched, especially on the edges of the Elo range, and you also enable gross tonnage mismatches.

The reality is that this is a straight up downgrade to pure tonnage matching.

While some folks will complain if they lose a match with equal tonnage, those folks are generally the same folks who are going to complain about any loss, no matter what.

If you have a match with equal tonnage, then it's FAIR. If one team is better than the other, and wins with equal tonnage, then that is GOOD. That is how fair games work. If two teams have "equal skill", but one outtons the other, then that match is inherently UNFAIR. And unfair games are NOT FUN. They make people quit. This is like rule #1 of game design. People don't like feeling like they're being cheated.

That has nothing to do with the matchmaker and everything to do with premades gimping your team. Supposedly weight limits are on the way so they will no longer be able to take 4 lights or 4 assaults and will be forced to run a mixed lance like the matchmaker tries to make with pugs.

Nick did you see the After game report! The "losing" team, scored as much damage as the winning team, They did out play the winners! They just needed a few more tons of armor/weapons to have won the match. Or a touch more skill at selecting cover.

well if i play alone or in Co-op I get realy nice games. but as soon as i start playing with 3 or 4 the games start to become extremely one sided and boring stomping or getting stomped is boring in both end.
in 12 vs 12 is just the cruelest thing ever so. i started to avoid playing them is just absolutely not fun and do not recommend them at the moment

And then on top of that ignores Battle Value of given mechs. A stock LCT-3s and Trial Atlas is not the equivalent of a Mastered and highly tweaked Jenner and Battlemaster with Modules and unlocked pilot perks.

...and like I stated above a maxed out Dragon with all the pilot skills unlocked is probably better than an Stock AWS-8Q even if there is a 20 ton difference in the Awesome's favor. :D

Earnestly, I don't know what you guys are talking about. I see plenty of people playing, with lots of variety and including a lot of really high-end players. My Elo, I would presume, is pretty good given my W/L record, and I've seen good players dropping so it's not that I'm an Elo bottom-feeder or I'm just getting matched against scrubs. I guess I'm just baffled because I am able to find matches without any issue, so where does this "nobody is playing" stuff come from?

That said, sure, I'm becoming disenchanted with the pace of development of new and critical features (weight limits, community warfare, UI2.0, decals, lobbies, private matches, game modes, better stats, the clans, etc.) and communication on the progress of each. I don't pretend the game is fine. However, I also don't have to pretend nobody's playing to reinforce those points.

Seriously? An ounce? Try over 300 tons - that's over 3 Atlases. Yes I'm playing Captain Obvious here because sarcastic trolling like yours is soooooo useful. Move on.
