So apparently I can only create a thread here. Hello everyone. This game takes up a lot of computer specs.

A friend of mine was playing this game and was thinking of creating a guild, asking me to help him since I'm good at tech stuff and organization. But I have no idea how to create a guild and I'm looking around for suggestions.

By the way, when can a new person create a thread in other forums?

I believe you can create a thread outside of the training grounds after your first 25 matches. We don't really have guilds here. Either you join a faction on the "forum profile" or you create a Mercenary corporation (not yet implemented!). The Faction play puts you in a "House" which plays together against the other houses; Mercs have more flexibility but have ambiguous faction alignment. (A problem for my unit since we're a house unit, but want independent organization and rank structure). We're still waiting on the specific details of forming units (probably what you mean by "guilds") so for the moment I'd say: hit teamspeak. Search the NGNG server. They run a free, open TS server that's very friendly to new players. Or, if you're interested, my unit, The 1stRDR is is always looking for new, quality guys. PM me if you're interested, or just look at the threads that offer new player assistance on voice-comms.

TLDR: you can't really do guilds yet, try some of the public or established units with servers.

In mechwarrior groups of players are reffered to units rather than guilds. However, creating a unit is simply of getting a group of guys who are happy to play together and calling yourself a unit, you then either use a public teamspeak server be it an open to everyone or house faction server or set up your own private voice server.

There are 2 types of units in the game: A Faction Unit which is affliated to a specific Great House or Clan (Clan here refers to a specific faction group rather than a gaming clan) or a Mercenary Unit. Faction Units basically represent one of the Great House Units and are considered a part of that Houses Standing Military Forces. A Mercenary Unit is an independent contractor that goes where the money is and effectively works for various Houses and/or Private Corporations at different times.

Right now the game hasn't gotten to a point where these are applied in game, and groups are doing this off there own backs until Community Warfare or CW is brought into the game.

As for setting up a unit, have a discussion with your friend as to they type of unit you guys want to create in the game, look at the back histories of the factions or famous mercenary groups.etc and create an identity for yourselves (Sarna.net is a pretty good starting place for this). Then set up in the appropriate MWO forum sections a recruitment thread advertising your unit, playstyles, where you can be found and what times your players are normally on.

Some things to consider with setting up a unit is a good recruitment pitch thread which is kept active, a well presented website (these can be set up for free from a variety of places such as enjin.com and are easily found by websearch) and voice communications. Some of the website setups will include the ability to add voice packages into the cost of the website if you are prepared to pay for the website however most can be setup for free without voice packages or the extra frills.

If you are happy to set up a basic website, use the publically available voice servers, be it a house or open server and regularly drop as groups from there.

For already setup Voice servers there is a list of them here

Just as an example of what I mean by recruitment and websites, here are the ones for my unit: (NOTE: I am only posting these up here as an example for the OP and not as a recruiting trick)

This thread explains your posting privileges as a new recruit. http://mwomercs.com/...35289-recruits/

Play 25 matches to enable full forum usage.

As for creating a guild, this is not like WoW where the game has in-game guild creation- you create a guild by having friends that play together and giving it a name. That's it. You can use your own voice server, or you can use a public server like the NGNG one. Websites with their own announcements, forums, etc are an option but not necessary (and again, is something you have to do on your own and is not something you do as part of 'the game')

Visit http://hub.housesteiner.com and our public Steiner teamspeak server: ts1.housesteiner.com

We can assist some new groups get a small kickstart, but in most cases most groups just pop up and die because it is difficult to recruit in this game, well at least for me, and the leaders usually fizzle and burnout from one thing or another.
