I believe this is a known bug if you time out of MWO as opposed to exiting, but will defer to those much wiser than me (no shortage of those )

I've also seen this sort of thing happen if the program does not have sufficient permissions to write to the directory the user preferences are in, typically under Windows Vista or 7. If you are running one of those have you tried running MWO as admin?

A full re-install and running as admin later, the game is still reverting to default several times a day.

This has only happened to me when I time out or log out.

As long as I quit the launcher everything is fine.

this happened to me after a patch once. i chalked it up to the patch. strange it's happening often.

@@ this is crazy.. i was like cursing out loud whole game.. all my key binds were not working.. what the voodoo..

If you save the applications.xml and actionmaps.xml (can't remember if these are the names of the exactly), these are your settings file. You can save them as backups so if MWO does this, just re-paste the file there, and your settings will be there.

It's in the C:\ (or whereever you installed it) Piranha Gamers \MWO folder.

You can do the same thing for the user.cfg as-well

I have heard that this can happen if you time out while in the config screen.

I've been finding it resets every time I get logged out due to inactivity. It's not a big deal as I don't have alter the control setup; but it is anoying having to change the settings back to full screen when I come back to the computer. Is this a bug that will be fixed? or is this on purpose? serving some sort of security feature?

This is happening to me, and i figured out it is happening every time i shut my monitor off. I have tried backing up all the settings files, but it seems to have no effect. I delete all the old files, and put the backups in their place, but when i start the game, default settings have been applied everywhere. It's getting where i dont even want to play, because i have to re-setup all graphics, controls, weapon setups, etc.

When it happens exit out of the game entirely. Then restart the game. Should be back to normal.

The resetting of my settings after an inactivity-logout is something I've been struggling with since I started playing.
Three updates later I gave it another try just to realize this bug still hasn't been fixed

Also seems to happen al lot when I alt-tab while loading a game..
