I actually feel like the 4SSRM 2d2 build is a hawk killer itself! The SSRM barrage is just so nasty. I have no problem 1 on 1 with any other light or medium.
sure. But then, my Hawk carries that, 2 mediums and a UAC5. Why? Because the extra speed really isn't needed. Hunting lights usually means detaching oneself from the unit, which leaves you and them vulnerable to wolf packs,. 2 Lights with ECM, and your BAP is useless, and you are now isolated against multiple opponents, with only 2 medium lasers, and nowhere near enough speed to disengage from them. This is the tactic any good light unit will employ. Admittedly, since Spiders lost their aura of invincibility, they are less common, but in decent ELOs, still plenty of Jenner and Raven jocks.
I run a 280XL, and instead of haring off and playing into their hands, I act as escort for the big guys. I have plenty enough speed to respond to anything, but more importantly the firepower to deal with it, when I get there. I keep the lights off the Assaults, plug the gaps in the battle line, etc.
I find StreakHawks and Kints OK in total PUG environs, but usually amongst the first to die in organized play, and we invariably lure them off, ambush and wolf pack them.
