I suggested a stop feature that could be used maybe once monthly. That prevents exploitation of it and gives those who might actually have a real life situation come up that prevents them from being able to make use of their premium time. All others pay cash B)

I'd still prefer my solution as I feel it's more generous to the player, but I'd easily take what you're suggesting. Stuff happens IRL and having a limited ability to pause premium time once a month or so would be very beneficial. My buddy just had to drop everything and go to Portugal for his job at a moments notice for an entire month. If I were him and I just hit the Activate button a few days before, I would be so peeved.

Just use up the premium and be done with it. It's not like 10 bucks a month is much.

I'm more pissed with things you cannot get with money - like those loyalty bonus medallions.

This is too hard of a suggestion for PGI to implement. CW has taken 2 years and UI whatever is worse than the present UI. If I didnt know better I would think that PGI purposefully trolls its player base by making the decisions to upset as many people as possible.

Premium Time is like other MMO subscriptons.

Pay $15 and get 30 days of benefits, whether you are logged into the game or not.

You can purchase new Premium Time just the way you guys are describing. It's only the banked PT from packages that you consider a problem, and that was purchased at a discount anyway. Just spend it already!

"Oh no ... I'll only be able to play for 60 hours out of 168 hours in the week! What a waste!"

You know what's a waste? Having all that time and never activating it. You're not going to be able to get anywhere near even 50% return on it unless you sit at the computer playing for 12 hours a day, so why bother trying?

I don't even know how much premium time I have. 7 months? 8? No way of knowing, as far as I can tell.

Click the Activate button. You get a confirmation window that tells you how much you have banked. You can confirm or cancel from there.

I too wish I could use my premium time in smaller chuncks. I've been holding out on activating it for two reasons. 1. I only get to play for 2 or 3 hours a week if I'm lucky and 2. I'm waiting for a more polished product (like so many others have stated).
However, I'd consider activating my time if I could do small chuncks, like a few days at a time, in order to help grind out a chasis.
Love the game, I think it has lots of potential, but like a lot of people, I'm growing weary of the slow production.
I love MW, been playing since the original back in like the 90's. I'm not sure why it's so hard to make things like trucks that explode or trees that crumble. I'm pretty sure MW2, 3 and 4 all had that and they came out like 20 years ago.
Please PGI, throw us a bone here. :P

Start/stop button would be good, but I'll just not activate mine if CW drops when I know I have work travel coming up within the duration. Seems mostly manageable, though the ability to stop/start would be sweet.

This should be for other packages besides Founders such as Phoenix.

I agree, it should be. I only mentioned Founders because:

1) The Founders have been here for a LONG time, supporting this game and waiting patiently for content that still hasn't been implemented.

2) Many Founders (like myself) also invested in the Phoenix packages and now have almost double the amount of premium time sitting around.

I think Sandpit brought up a good solution. They should implement some kind of pause or stop button that can only be activated once every 30 days or something. That way you could pause your time if an emergency comes up or life just keeps you away from MWO.

For me, the optimal solution would be that premium time only ticks down for a day if you log in.

As it is, I will just stop playing when premium time from the Phoenix deal runs out. Just as I did after my founders time ran out.

As I also expect future deals just in time with possible game improvements, or whenever they urgently need more money, I will probably get one of those. Still, business-wise that is less profitable for PGI than a continuous involvement with the game and permanent opportunity to buy stuff. So time only ticking when used would be good for players and PGI.

lol

Good for players, yes.

Good for PGI and this game? Hell no.

Do you know how much real-time it would take for most players to go through a month of Premium Time? 30 days is 720 hours. Average play time per day is probably two or three hours. At two hours per day, that "month" of Premium Time would last nearly a year (360 days). At three hours per day, that "month" would last about eight months (240 days). Even increasing the average to four hours per day means that "month" lasts about six months (180 days).

They wouldn't make any money that way.

Premium Time should stay like the subscription it is -- once activated it ticks down whether you play or not.

When premium time was activated PGI told us to save it until such time the game meets our personal standard of quality.
Thus i still have all my Time and i expect that to never change.

I think he means; If a player logs in, it will consume 24 hours of premium time, whether it's only for 1 game or 50. But it won't consume more than 24 hours of premium time unless you log in again.

I don't even see it as "fail" since they are making some minor improvements to the game. However, for me it's just lacking in progress towards anything new that will add actual interest or long-term enjoyment to the game. More mechs and maps is fine and good, but I'd be willing to go without either of those for 4 months if it meant we got a new game mode (that wasn't a sad rehash of existing modes) and some kind of basic Inner Sphere conquest map type community warfare.

All that depends on UI2.0/ i think they went after that way too soon. stopping all most everything for UI2.0 was a big mistake.
As for premium time for it to be used in periods then it would have to be issued in hours not monthly increments. only then would it make any sense.

Credit to the OP, but I've always been of the mind that Premium time should be divided into hours played.

No matter what, the game cannot expect us to play for 24 hours a day, for a month. You will die. Every single real-world time-limited subscription adds that little bit of stress, after all, at least 1/3 of your subscription is going to waste.

As much as the subscription model is outdated, it is still the go-to for less inventive businesses. I'm never going to pay to play a game - that ended when the NES replaced the video arcade. Pay for a bonus that I can never use to it's full extent? Same boat. League of Legends seems to be doing just fine without subscriptions - MERIT BASED PLAYCONOMY! If we players get The Mechwarrior Game, we'll pound money into this harder than that time I.. Look, you'll be rich.

I have no hope that they'll ever switch to an hourly format, but when we have a sweet Jumpship-Gravdeck lobby, I'll probably activate my time.

Make it so u can start or stop premium time a day in advance.

Example: start premium time clicked...starts at beginning of game day tomorrow

end premium time clicked...end premium time at end of current game day.

This makes it easier to track whole days and doesnt put too much extra undue load on servers.

So nothing has come of this yet?

I really wasted quite a bit of money on my legendary founders package for a game that has turned out worse then I could have imagined. I stopped played over a year ago because of game breaking flaws and I come back to see that my premium time will still get wasted if i activate it.. piranha games has become a real disappointment...

I somehow knew that the devs were gonna shaft all the founders after the game was released

I have 182 days of Premium, There is no way I will be playing this game for 3 months straight like that to get "value" out of the premium time. If I could activate in chunks it would be so much better

SWTOR already had this feature, it's only PGI that doesn't do it so they can jack more money out of ya!

+1 all the way

I totally understand that a simple start/stop button is not likely. As nice as that would be, it would not fit the business model very well. However, I want to support the idea of activating premium time that we have amassed, in discrete chunks. I don't want to sit with 3 or 6 months burning away because stuff came up with personal/work and i cant play for weeks at a time.

Other games allow you to activate premium time in discrete values like 1D, 3D, 7D, 30D. While some do this with the exchange of gold (real money) credits for the time, i think this is a very fair way to allow us to use our amassed time.

When we click activate, there should be a follow up menu asking how many days of premium time to we want to burn.
With this in place i would be much more likely yo commit to my premium time and play more hard core.

Please consider this, especially for the founders (and phoenix, which i missed) that have been around supporting the game financially since day 1.
