Want to balance this game out. Get Built in Voice Coms working again. We are so tired of only 4 of us working as a team in a match just to lose it becasue the PUGS have no idea what to do or when to do it. Having to rely on a 3rd party voice com is not acceptable in the 21st century. With the advent of ELO and that being based off of Win Loss ratios I just assume I be able to talk to everyone on my team to give us the best chance to win.

It is utterly discouraging that no matter what the 4 of us do, our win situation is based on 8 others who usually have no clue how to fight or defend.

Is this ever going to be addressed?

Welcome to PGI's arbitrary ELO system that punishes players who actually play well

Nope. I've read a few things from them that basically come down to;
1)They don't have the skill or knowledge necessary to correctly implement VOIP.
2) They don't want to give us VOIP (for whatever reasons, but they DO NOT WANT it in the game)
3) They seem to think that random TS is plenty enough for the whole game.

So basically pretend that you just spoke your post to a dev in person and then they spit on your face and dented your car.

Sheesh. How the heck can you have a PvP oriented game and not have voice coms built in. Trying to type as I scout is impossible especially when I am under heavy fire. This one change will be so dramatic for evening out the matches its not even funny.

While VoIP would help I think we need to realise that people will still not use it much and will still ignore it most of the time when you talk. Lance level VoIP might help each pug lance a bit but it's not going to make them follow orders across a 3 lance team people will still run off and die or think thier tactics are best despite the truth of crushing defeat.

So yes have it in but do not get your hopes too high.

I think the first time I remember playing a game with built in voice communications was Battlefield 2 about 8+ years ago now I guess. Which I used extensively, especially in the Project Reality mod. As far as PGI is concerned integrated VOIP must be LosTech. ;)

From my experience in tanks (wot) in game voip does not work and goes unused in pugs. Reason being that there are to many child like trolls who blare music, make stupid noises and simply troll the frack out of the open in game mic. So what happens is the vast majority either turn it off completely or have it muted so low it may as well be turned off.
In actuality the only time it was ever used was in tank companies and even then you generally had people pop on your ts server as even there the trolls would come in lobby while in match and do their stupid noises.

Well in BF2 you could only hear your squadmates. Unless you were a squad leader, then the commander as well (and other squad leaders?). It was easy User Interface wise to mute any offenders. One could assume a similar setup could work with the Lances / Company Commander / Lance Commander as well. Granted, last I played MWO it was super rare to see anyone even try take on those roles. Maybe that is because the implementation had been janky for so long.

Hate to say it because as much as voice coms can help, this is exactly what I'd do in PuG games. I've had about all of the open mic games I will ever tolerate.

Hey guys! It seems you are talking about VOIP.

I've been running a poll and a debate about the good and bad things about VOIP.
If you think VOIP is bad for any reason, I've probably already made a counter argument.

Please see my thread here: http://mwomercs.com/...-sorely-needed/

The funniest thing, bar none, about the VoIP situation is that Crysis comes with VoIP built in, crappy as it is.

I think PGI just doesn't want to pay to host VoIP traffic, that's all.

hahahahahhahashihfioshoiasfohiseihoasefoi

I won't but... I could... go get a list of games FROM PRE-2000 that have integrated VOIP.

They have no excuse. It makes them look pathetic as ****.

As a 10 year Veteran of Xbox Live I can attest to the MUTE ALL function of a Voice Chat game lobby...

yes.. I know this is not Xbox Live.. .and PC gaming has always been the forefront for Multiplayer gaming and VOIP.....

...but with todays kids playing these games... unless I"m gaming with my Friends on Thursday or Friday... I do not want to bother with the headache that is Pugging...

In 2002 I played Soldier of Fortune 2 CTF random map generator largest server in the world.. with no VOIP... I could type perhaps 10 words a minute at best...

After a year I was up to 60 words a minute... and I could convey simple (Enemy at G5 or At Base) so quick it...

If VOIP was around for that game... I Would still be a crappy typer.... PC gaming actually helped me and as a Light mech scout I can quickly type simple sentences that explain where the enemy is,ect... Its not rocket science..

I do agree a VOIP in game would be nice... but I would not use it... C3 or TS with Friends is the way to go
