Balancing fights with handicap bonus : (4 and 12 men groups)

ELO handicap bonus :
  • More then 10% in teams's ELO difference = Each members of the team with lowest Elo get 10% more experience.

The idea is to reward a team that was in an uneven battle.

Tonnage handicap bonus:

Theoretical mean tonnage (TMT) = 600 tons for a 12 members team.

** The closer a team tonnage is from 600 the best it is.**

The handicap bonus is computed as follow :

( modulus(Team total tonnage - 600)/600)x100= % of deviation from TMT.

  • More then a 15% difference in teams's % of deviation from TMT = Each members of the team with lowest deviation from TMT get 10% more income.

Hoping people will do more balanced line up to get the bonus.

Not bad but 600 ton is to low a limit. Davion's are known to have a primarily Heavy Mech Force. House Liao due to loses in war have a basic Medium TO&E.

MY answer would be GET RID OF ELO?MM FOR MWO AND JUST USE A LOBBY AND LEAGUES.And just use the current MM/ELO for new players to have fun in trials only until they switch over to the lobby system.

The 600 tons could be adjusted up a bit... after some tests.

600 tons is just 12 50-ton 'mechs. Before we have even a semblance of CW (or, for that matter, role warfare) there's no need to take lore-specific limitations into account.

Its doesn't limit mech choice, it's just reward a bit the more balanced team.

The idea is to have less extreme groups. Like to much assault/heavies or too much lights

True, but not everyone wants to see such harsh restrictions. I personally would be more comfortable with a 700 ton limit.
Lance 1
320 tons
Lance 2
260 tons
Lance 3
120 tons

Would make for a nice blend in my eyes.

I wasn't arguing against you :P

Although 720 tons is a more logical limit, since that's the average of 20-100 tons times 12.

Yes it could be a better target to aim for .
