Hi all (this is my 1 post ;) )
I just bought this little mech and I'm in love. Oxide has everything that I wanted from the light. You can run like crazy and never stop, wrecking enemies from mid/small range. I've mastered spiders, jenners, tried one commando but this one I found the best of lights (maybe I'll try cmd 2D). Its so easy to get 700+ dmg and 2+kills that its really hard to believe (normally I'm a med/heavy player) - just run, pick your target, kill it or harass and change to another one.
O, there is another thing - I love to annoy ppl. Now it is much more fun to bite them and cripple them running around than sting with the erll/erppc spider.

I must admit I am rather lost with Streak-Oxide - the lock-on time seems to take forever and I am having a hard time utilizing the streaks. It seems that I need to stay in the sight forever before I can fire even one salvo and by then I have ate several of theirs.

Any tips for a newbie, please? How to cut down the lock-on time beside BAP?

I am told having Artemis helps?(Can't say for sure since I don't have it in my Oxide, nor do I recall if it works with Streaks like it does LRMs)) But, to a point that I can speak on personally, you want to take a different attack angle. If you run around a corner and your target is facing you... abort. :D Circle around out of sight and come at him from the rear, or slightly off to the side/rear. That will give you the precious seconds you need to lock on. Dump one salvo into your target, then pass behind him. As he turns to see what hit him you will (hopefully) be on the opposite side and he will have exposed his back to you again... allowing for another salvo. If he turns the wrong way, or he has buddies who spot you, just keep zooming out of the area and wait till they turn back to the main battle.

Thanks, William Slayer, that helped a bit :D Though most of the time I find myself without the luxury of engaging one on one or sneaking up behind (mostly due lack of jj and having to search for ramps to get anywhere).
How to utilize Oxide when facing multiple enemies?
Is it something you just don't do?
Do I cruise around out of combat until I can safely engage?

Thank you

Thank you, those are interesting builds that I will give a try :D though my experience with SRM2 was a poor one - despite blowing like 100 ammo that has visually HIT, I was under 200 dmg in total! I was pretty shocked to see that. The same happened in following three matches - lot of supposed hits but very little damage as opposed to my streaks where I shoot a few times but get relatively high numbers.
I came to conclusion SRMs must be pretty weak =\

Another concern with the suggested builds is: completely stripped rear armor. Doesn't that make me instantly blow up if someone hits my rear?
