I would be surprised if this hadn't been suggested before, but if not:

For F's sake guys, when you bring the servers down for maintenance, update the patch notes then!

I mean, we already don't get to play, you might as well show us what we're waiting for the moment the servers go down.

I've never been able to understand the hours delay between taking the servers down and updating the patch notes.

Theoretically you already know what you're going to be putting on the server on patch day, and theoretically, the patch notes have been written in advance of the patch being pushed to production, so why the delay?

Give us something to do, other than, rehash old threads...
