At first I thought that SRMs were totally broken altogether, and simply didn't register most missiles in a volley. Now I believe there is a certain threshold at which the SRMs stop registering.

For instance, using 4XASRM6 on my AWS-8R, my volleys do very little damage, clearly indicating a lack of registration.

Yet the single SRM6 on the Dragon 5C's CT seems to register just fine.

Therefore it seems that past a certain amount of SRMs contacting, the game will not register them.

Here's another test you can do with that AWS: Compare chain-firing your ASRM-4s to alpha-firing them. Chances are you'll do more damage with chain-fire.

There's always been a question as to whether missiles are interfering with each other when fired in a volley. There have been many points over the course of this game where it seems like chain-firing, whether it be for LRMs, SRMs or streaks, does more damage and is more effective than group-firing the same weapons.

I've actually tested this before on my AWS and it doesnt seem to provide better results.

Tinfoil hat time! Could this bad hit reg for SRMs been purposefully added to neuter builds that boat them(splatcat)? You know, just in case ghost heat didn't do the trick...

Nah, Paul drives (or used to drive, dunno if he's played lately) a Cat, so he wouldn't do anything to neuter (or spay!) them.

Tinfoily enough?

Tried a Battlemaster with 4 SRM6 + Artemis. The damage was a bad joke.

SRMs, whether in singles or in mass volleys, are only really good against the widest of mechs. It is similar to how lethal LRM5s can be but how LRM20s often have several of the missiles miss the target even when they land flush. If you're firing at a Spider, the missile spread is too great and you miss with several. If you fire at an Awesome, the chances of you landing most if not all of them is much greater. That is part of the issue with HSR on missiles.
