I was reading sarna wiki when stumbled upon this ferro-fibrous armor.

it was said that "Ferro-Fibrous armor was lost to the Inner Sphere during the Succession Wars. The Draconis Combine was the first to re-create it in 3040." (http://www.sarna.net...i/Ferro-Fibrous)

so what kind or armor plating the mechs used before 3040? Endo steel is used for skeletal structure of mechs AFAIK.

standard armor plating, under various brand names was the armor used till the reintroduction of ferro-fibrous compounds. You get 16 armor points per ton of standard compared to 17.9 for ferro-fibrous. their is a drawback to ferro as it uses more critical spaces to fit.

Oh, and endo steel is an advanced compound aswell, that was reintroduced in the 3040's
