I have one mech bay right now and was looking at this Orion ON1-K.

It's at the top of the weight I'm interested because I don't want an assault and it's at the lowest speed I will field (64km/h). What really interested me is that it can have 2 lasers in each arm. Plus I think the thing just looks mean.

I'm wondering if there are any other mechs that can do this and also is the Orion a decent chassis? I never see them at all so I have a strange feeling like it ended up in the land of misfit mechs like the BlackJack, Quickdraw, Awesome etc.

Right now I have:
JR7-D(S)
JR7-F

HBK-4P
HBK-4SP
HBK-4G

CPLT-C1
CPLT-C4
CPLT-K2

Thnx for any help or advice in advance.

If you want medium mech you can look at TBT-5J Right Arm 3e, Left Arm 2e, Right Torso 1M(15), 1AMS

If I were you I would look at the Victor. I know you said you don't like assaults, but it is only 5 more tons than the Orion and can go just as fast.

The Victor has it's energy hardpoints on the left hand and ballistics on the right. And the lasers kinda look like fingers.

Jumpjets give it more maneuverability than the Orion and can help spread damage around your mech. Half of your current mechs can equip Jumpjets so I'm sure you are aware of their benefits.

The Orion, like the Atlas, has that ballistic hardpoint in the right torso that everyone knows to shoot at. Expect to lose your AC20 or your XL engine pretty quickly when playing against decent players.

As a bonus, it makes your progression through the weight classes nice and tidy for the OCD amongst us.

Thanks, I'll check out both but I'm kind of leaning away from mediums also. I tend to like lights the best and heavies second best, the victor doesn't seem to far from that if I can build it with decent speed.

You can always run around in a Commando. A couple variants have energy hardpoints on the arms. Plus it makes this meme much more relatable Posted Image

When they were first released they kinda sucked - the CT was way too big. Since the hitbox change Orions are solid mechs - especially as brawlers. (I just picked up my 2nd - the M makes a solid LRM machine - with enough extra hardpoints/tonnage/armor to put up a decent fight up close.)

Victor 9S This is my favorite Victor that I regularly run. My best match I got 9 kills with her. I play it alot like it is the giant cousin of a Yen-lo-wang. With the XL360, she does just over 80kph with speed tweak.

She can be yours for the low price of 17 million cbills. Then you can save for Adv. Sensor Range, Adv. Target Decay, and Adv. Seismic Sensor for 14 million more. Wait... WHAT!?! My Victor cost me 31 million cbills!!!.... Dang.

Anyways, this is a great mech. Highly Recommended.

The ON1-K with 4 MLas, AC/20 and 1 or 2 SRM6 is a really mean heavy. Very hard hitting, and since the hitbox change, can really take a pounding.

However, I personally feel that the Orion really starts to shine once elited. Without tweak and the double basics, they feel quite sluggish.

Victors are probably what you're looking for. 2-3 energy slots in one arm, balistics in the other, missiles on the torso that are good for streaks, and you've got a nice brawler. Stick a large XL engine in there (350 or higher), and you've got an assault that tops 75 (goes all the way up to 85), has JJs, and a lot of firepower.

Orions are more like mini-atlasses. They brawl well, but aren't as mobile as a Victor.
