Hi all,

I want to create an MWO League for the masses. A League that uses drop restrictions to (hopefully) have a varied drop deck. I’ve been thinking about this for a longtime, and I thought with the upcoming Mechwarrior Online in game match maker, this type of format may have been a default, or at least an in game match choice selection. But what was I thinking!

For this League the rules are simple, a 12 mech drop must have;

1) A 720t weight maximum or a minimum of 660t.
2) No two mechs can be the same, each member on a team must have a unique mech or variant (Founder, Phoenix, & Champion variants do not count as a unique mechs)
3) Only 3 ECM capable mechs per team.
4) All mechs on a team “should” have the same colour or colours.

Matches would be held on a single shared TeamSpeak one day a week. Here, teams would prep to drop into 12mans on every top and bottom of the hour. And hopefully by doing this, the in game elo, would match your team, with another of equal level.
This would be a simple Ladder League to start, perhaps with different divisions (Competitive, Serious, OldTimers, Drunk, and Drunk Old Timers)

Please let me know what you think?

That sounds really good. You could say no MC only mechs aswell, depends how hardcore you want to get :)

Having only one ecm mech will probably mean missile spam in most maps.

While I get that ECM can hard counter missiles in general, without it, you are inviting missile boats and scouts to just dominate on most open maps without much vertical cover.

I would probably up this number to either 3 or 4. It allows a single ECM per lance detachment, and a contingency one if one is sniped out.

I agree with the ECM restriction, I may up it to 3. Missiles are brutal right now.

In a sense, http://innerspherewars.eu/ already has all of this implemented already for that resource league.
The basic droplimit is 750 for each team per match and that is lowered to 600 tons depending on the teams win/los ratio (The teams with a better w/l ratio will have lower tonnage limits).

Additionally the league randomply generates various additional restictions/game mode types;

3025 Stock Mechs (only stock mechs and no stock mechs with ECM/Streak/FF/ES/XL/AMS/Artemis)
Trial mechs
no restriction
only one mech type per team (no 2 Jenner F, but a Jenner F and a Jenner K is OK)
and a few others (and everything in either Conquest or Assault)

Yeah, ISW is pretty varied. The random rules each match make it interesting.

Not sure about the others, but ISW does not have a timelimit.

It is a planetary resource league, which means that it is currently what community warfare shuold probably be like, although it doesnt have any border limitations (meaning the clans can theoretically take over the complete inner sphere if they can manage.. although in the past the complete clan invasion was stopped at "The Rock" by a unit from the Circinus Federation before the reset).

New teams basically select from one of the available units;
http://innerspherewa...vailability.php
and can buy mechs, dropships and jumpships and move them around like on a chess board. Fights are organised through the forums and fought in MWO/MWLL or MWT depending on which branch of the league they are playing in.

Yes, new teams are always welcome. However I think theres currently a registration stop for new Steiner and Kurita house units, so that other active houses/merc unit numbers can be balanced.

As long as you arent fixated on either of those 2 factions, then you can pick and choose just about any Canon unit or send grayson marik a message to ask if ther is a posibility of your unit name to be added (more chance for pirate and Merc units for this, as house units would be harder to implement in a canon way).

Actually Steiner and DC are open for new units again^^

And if you want to keep your units name, instead of taking a canon one, just apply for a canon unit and write your wished name in the application. I create a new unit under the requested faction for you then.
