Hello everyone, I recently bought another game that was unable to download, in an attempt to fix the issue one of the things I tried was messing with .NET 4.0, Im not shure what I did to it or if it was allready on my computer or if I never needed it in the first place but I downloaded it from the microsoft site but afterwards it didnt turnout to be the issue it was a virus that was messing things up. So this is where MWO comes in the picture. After fixing the other game I go to launch MWO and there was an update after the game updated it gave me an error msg somthing like mismatch version I think, so I go to the forums and in one post an admin suggested reinstalling the game. So after uninstalling the game I go to the MWO game page and click download game, after installing the game installer on the browser I click run to download it onto my computer and this is where the problem lies, It gives me an error msg that reads "application error the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application". Does anyone know whats going on here? I think it has somthing to do with .NET 4.0 because thats the only thing I messed with that day. BTW my OS is 64 bit vista service pack 2. Thank you for any help!

Greetings,

You may need to be running the computer as an "Administrator" and not a user.

Some of the items that "Users" are restricted from doing is installing programs.

From the location you downloaded the MWO install program, "right click" on the program icon and select "run as Administrator"

or

right click on the program and select "properties", you will see tabs at the top of the pop up window, select "Compatibility" - look at the bottom and check off the "run this program as an Administrator", then click "ok".

If you are not an admin on the computer some items in the install will not be initialized or started as they need a higher authorization than a normal user.

Ms site for the Net web install: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=17851
And the 64bit version as you are running that: http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=6523

(it may be operating system specific so select the correct one, it's normally smart enough to identify your system so may be ok.)

Good luck,

Allright so I was able to download the installer but now after accepting the terms of use it goes to the window with the loading bar and after awhile and error msg pops up that says setup failed one or more issues cause the setup to fail. Please fix issues and retry setup. Unspecified error 0x80004005. Any ideas on this one?

Greetings,

Yes that is a common error when the item or program being installed does not have sufficient permission to complete it's installation.

See here:
Error 0x80004005 denotes "Access denied". This error message indicates that the program that returned the error did not have sufficient privileges to perform the requested operation. Windows and it's file system are protected by an ascending hierarchy of permission levels. Programs may only perform operations for which they have the required permissions. If a program attempts to perform an operation for which it does not have the necessary permissions, it may return the error 0x80004005 (Access denied). This result is by design in adherence to Windows' security parameters. In order for a program to successfully complete an operation that requires permissions above it's normal clearance level, it's permission level must be elevated by an Administrator.

Common causes of Error 0x80004005...
•Misconfiguration in system
•The user is not logged in as an Administrator
•The user mistakenly denied elevated privileges to the program's request.
•The program is requesting access to an object that does not supply sufficient privileges for itself.
•Virus/Malware infections

In essence, error 0x80004005 is the result of a program trying to do something it isn't alowed to do.

So, how to fix this:
- Log into windows as an Administrator. -
1.Right-click the program or shortcut icon.
2.Choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
3.Click the Compatibility tab in the program’s Properties dialog box.
4.Put a check mark by the item Run This Program As an Administrator.
5.Click OK.

Additionally you can: (ignore the name of this program "CCleaner" as it is only an example)

Use Advanced Properties for the Program’s Shortcut

To change the properties of the program’s shortcut to allow you to run the program as administrator, right-click on the program’s shortcut. The Properties dialog box displays. Click the Shortcut tab, if it is not already active, and click the Advanced button.

NOTE: This method allows you always to run the selected program as administrator when you open it.

The Advanced Properties dialog box displays. Select the Run as administrator check box, so there is a check mark in the box. Click OK.

You are returned to the Shortcut tab on the Properties dialog box. Click OK to close it.

The next time you open the program, it will run as administrator.

Remember to be careful when running programs as administrator, and when considering whether to allow other standard users of your computer administrator access.

Ok, that should get you up and running. Advise if there are any other issues.
Later,
9erRed

You should put that suggestion in too the website&forum, and the should move the stuff in to a sub forum here that's marked resolved problems so people can find a solution easier instead of re-posting.

I've followed every part of this topic, to the letter... But i still have the same problem, i use mcafee virus software- up to date. So i've copied the last two actions my computer took when trying to use the installer:
[1B44:1FD4][2014-03-17T17:50:34]i352: Removing cached bundle: {73bcb521-8936-42d7-ad00-ec2bb399e26c}, from path: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{73bcb521-8936-42d7-ad00-ec2bb399e26c}\
[0E40:1134][2014-03-17T17:50:35]i399: Apply complete, result: 0x80004005, restart: None, ba requested restart: No
Any help will be great!
