So far I have mastered the Stalker, Cataphract & Hunchback chassis, as well as nearly being elited on Spiders & Jenners.

I have watched countless SHawk vids and think I'd really like to get to building one.

I don't like cookie cutters too much, and this build seems to be a decent mech to me. I don't want two missiles, and the AC 5 / large have the same ranges, AC 2 shoots out to infinity, and this mech can shoot while running, or shoot without ceasing when on a perch.

Thoughts?

Shadowhawk is a great chassis, 5M probably being the best sniper.

You can do 2xPPC UAC5 for straight up sniping, but lets do something a bit more flexible for you.

2xLL, AC10 Shawk

Going off the lasers and ballistic build you had, I kept the engine but replaced your armament with something a little more, threatening...

...try that build and have fun. I've used it for a while with great effect.

I'm loving that build. Zero armor anywhere, and 12 in the head spooks me slightly though. I may put the 280 XL back in, raise the armor, and perhaps a DHS?

I've never liked the idea of mastering multiple mechs that are the same. I like variety in my game, rather just have one of each mech of my choosing...An extreme waste of my time and energy to play the same mech over and over, I work quite a bit of over time at my job being a welder takes it out of you, rather not waste my time using a mech I dont really want to.

Ummm...ok.

My point was the part where I specifically said I did indeed want to master this mech....kinda came up in the title too.

A 55 tonner that jumps seems a fine hybrid of my Phract 3D and my ballistic HBK. It's a win-win for me.

Just go with the Shadowhawk like everyone else. While we're at it, might aswell remove all the other mediums. Seriously, that thing just fits the FotM.

I digress, however... but still, go with whatever has ballistics and you're set. Damn this meta.

The Shadowhawk is an excellent mech. If you don't like the cookie cutter meta builds (though A C20 and two MLs is a lot of fun), try the 5M with two MLs, an AC10, and pair of SRM4s.

I'm not necessarily married to the meta....my best statistical performance as well as enjoyment, have all come from the Stalker 5M and the Cataphract 1X.

In a nutshell, what the dream mech I'm shopping for, but likely won't find, damn me for dreaming :P would offer the following, maybe you guys can recommend a mech that allows the best compromise. It'd be GREATLY appreciated.

Priority One, as much of this as possible:

A ballistic weapon larger than an AC2 but not Gauss....even before the charge-up, statistically I did sub par.

One ranged energy weapon or combo that disregards ghost heat, ala no 3 large lazorzz....

Able to survive a direct hit and if it needs an XL, it's side torsos are accomadating.

AMS if possible.

Speed between 65kph to 90kph, lots of flexibility there.

Won't burn my pizza on the dash if I alpha at 75-77% on the heat scale to save my ***.

The Shadowhawk appealed to many of those ideas....except my dream to toss a flamer on my head or center, and not gimp the build. I never liked FoTM, have played PvP in WoW for 7+ years, always a class or spec not most desired.

Fire Mage anyone?

I'm open to any idea to spark my return to this game once a severed tendon in my index finger recovers, 2-4 more weeks. Replace the S Hawk with something I may like to shoot you with better! :(

I thought I'd mention, due to your comment of not being a fan of FotM, that right now I'm tossing up between an AC/2 + AC/5 + MLx2 5M build and a PPCx3 + MLx3 9M Awesome - whichever I choose I'm going to at very least Elite out, but going for the "weaker" mech may be more what you like. I know that's one of the drawcards for me.

If thats the case I suggest quit playing, grab a cool beer, sit down lay back and watch the game :P

IMHO, and respectfully, that's a cheesey build. One JJ? The Shadowhawk begs to go fast, weave in and out of battles, jump jet all over, and deal damage to anyone regardless of weight. A classic medium. Neglecting the missile hard points is a mistake and really limits your value as a light killer. Really, any 'Mech can stand at range and shoot AC2/5s, the Jag being the most popular.

Know a guy going through the same thing. :( tendon bounced way up into his forearm. I'll take my last knife injury (knuckle bone exposed to air), over that {Scrap} any day. Good luck with the convalescence.

Thanks! I'm in therapy twice a week, bending exercises finally....I should be back to playing normally again in 2-3 more weeks. Just wish I could find a decent cbill cost new mech that inspires me!

I just put this build together based on what seems fun & effective, but best of all, different, sorta.

Since for the past few days, hitreg on SRM's has been spot on for me, does this build have anything singularly bad about it other than weapon jams, the other weapons can cover for?

Thanks!

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...06d372a06355829

It's designed to use cover while laying suppression fire or shooting those who ignore me, yet can acquit itself nicely while extracting ones self from a knife fight.

Thoughts?

IMO if you die and still have ammo left it is wasted tonnage you could have used on making your mech hit harder.

Shadowhawk is the best medium currently. Hard to go wrong with one.

I have a 2 AC/5, ER Large build with most of it's armor, 2 JJ and cool enough to fire all day, obligatory 5 tons of ammo....better usage probably? Same DPS as my Stalker 3F.

And thanks for all the suggestions.

I also toyed with some Awesome builds, like you the 9M, but also the 8T....but damn, that thing still a mattress, no matter how much PGI reslices the pie.

Sell me on a heavy perhaps, other than anything with ears or cat in the name, I already toyed with those!

the only heavy mech I can stand to pilot: JM6-DD "Siegebreaker"

it's fast, it's tough (smurfy link doesn't reflect it, but I moved armour around to be a bit more front-heavy,) it looks great, sounds great (ahh the heavenly choir of 4 MGs!) and if you play it right, it wrecks stuff like nobody's business.
