This is like the 2nd thread in a row where I see a terribad design posted.

Now I completely understand why these threads are made.

If you want to see bad ideas (especially for the Griffin) then you should try this GRF-1N. Though I guess it can count itself as a 'poptart', which can be tough to break with good teamwork...

I'm just gonna point out that 360 TR Mod doesn't actually do much, aside from on missile spotters, so they can keep spotting while running away and/or dodging. It has no effect, whatsoever, for Streaks, if that's your intention.

Target Decay is so much better...

SHD-2D2 does it just as good. Tell me what this date does again?

people who post this kind of comment really don't know anything about the war ;)

shallow people - war should never happen. but small minds think it makes a difference and the people always pay for that burden.

Wow this is a bad build. Also, the 360 target retention module doesn't do what you think it does.

I'm pretty sure if I've survived Streaktaros and Streakhawks, I'll survive this.

Adding ferro armor and junking the ML gives you tonnage for an AMS and CASE. I mean, either way you have room to add ferro armor, but it only leaves you 2 crits to work with, but it opens 1.23 tons.

SHD-2D2

I would forgo the AMS and go for a speed/engine upgrade.

That's a possibility, too. I forgo the ferro armor and go for a 300 XL and use a LL on the left arm and have 14 sinks.

The Phoenix suffers from poor hard-point distribution. At the end of the day, IMHO the Shadowhawk and the Wolverine are the most interesting mechs out of the package and not worth the $70 to throw half of them away (Phoenix package 2nd tier = $40; Saber = $30).

I'm just not a huge fan of XL in most of my builds. This build doesn't work well in chasing down lights but it does make a great support mech. When those pesky squirrels try to hang around for target locks and getting behind my bigger buddies I can chase them off. The LL gives it something to do outside of 270 meters. So when I'm hanging back supporting the big guns I can still pop off shots at range and do some damage to help out the team even further.

GRF-1N(P), XL 275, 10 DHS, Endo, 368 armor
BAP
AMS (1000)
1 ERPPC
2 MLAS
1 LRM-10 Artemis (18)
2 SSRM-2 (25 each)

...and I'm happy, happy, happy...

I actually stated that GRF-1N. I hope you enjoy it... 4 weapon groups, small amount of ammo to those lrms, and speed less than many heavies is not a combination I would go for... But have at it...

I'm using full jets though, whereas yours listed 1. We'll see, sometimes the mixed loads don't work once in-game, sometimes they clean house. I won't know until I'm in there with it. But it fits my usual methods. LRM is only for supplemental, and for that 18 is fine. 4 triggers is common for me. Speed I like staying between high-70 to high-80s for general builds. Will report back in about 10 days

(edit on previous post...it was just 10 DHS and 18 shots on the LRM)

Yeah I got down to .5 tons left and no JJs so I added a single JJ to fill the space... Though 10 DHS for that whole load is even worse than 12... And I already thought 12 was way to low... :P

Meh, I'm not too worried about it, it's not streak-cat.

Now, that was a fearsome sight to a light pilot.

Nah, it will be fine as long as I'm careful with the ERPPC. If necessary I'll drop it to a standard PPC or ERLLAS with two more DHS.

Your Medium Mech might chew up lights... but my Shadowhawk will chew you up fast with AC/20 or 2 UAC 5s,ect..

Hardly, the 2D2 Light Killer outperforms the AC20 build due to mobility and durability so if the Griffin has the same kind of profile, it will survive just as long and last longer due to having an extra energy hardpoint plus the ability to use the left side as a shield. Also, if you are running an AC20 in a Shadowhawk, your shoulder will be the focus fire of any pilot in the game, not to mention it sticks out so far it makes for an easy target. Case in point, this is why the light killer is better, and I ran out of Streak ammo with 1 Mech left to kill and I had 400 rounds:
