Hi forum, first time posting here, we'll have to see if it's my last.

I have played video games on the PC way back into the DOS and CP/M dark ages. Since the time playing a game over a network involved running cables around the house for IPX or token ring. I've played every MechWarrior and MechCommander game that has come out for PC (to my knowlege anyway), and will probably play Tactics when it comes out too.

MW:O is a really fun mech game. The mechs are great to drive, the in-cockpit perspective is great, and there are a ton of really nice touches all over the place. It is easy to see that the folks at PGI are real fans of the source material.

With all of that, having read these forums since I started playing MWO 6-7 months ago, the community on these boards is the most negative, abusive pack of whiners I have ever seen for a PC game, and a FTP one at that!

The specs for the new Jenner "Oxide" weren't even out for an hour before people were denigrating it in the mech strategies board, every change PGI makes people **** and moan about endlessly. If these boards are to be believed, there are maybe 2-3 mechs worth playing, and all the others are a waste of time. Every new mech is a "failboat" and DOA, every change to weapons is a major nerf that destroys the game. If you don't like the game, don't play it. Simple as that.

Much has been said about whether people think MWO will survive in the marketplace, and if it doesn't I would point the finger squarely at the playerbase that comes to these community pages and spews barrels of vitriol over every aspect of the game.

Is MWO perfect? Of course not, what in life is? Cut the guys at PGI some slack while they work to continue making the game even more fun to play, adding new mechs and maps, tweaking the gameplay etc. Being a giant douchenozzle to the people who work 40+ hours a week to build a game you play for essentially free is just ridiculous.

End rant.

When people complain this much that mean something is really wrong. Its not same as you are saying and if you were of forums that long you should know that by now. First problem we have is that how problems are fixed they take one problem try to quick fix it by making another problem, not to mention all unnecessary stuff that are done just to make new problem (helo poor catapults). Game launched too early without basic functionality and like that its hard to change things around all we see is money grabbing for now and they take time to make all stuff that should be in game long before launch. So sorry if people are unhappy but that is the reality. Next point is so called micro transactions I mean igp has no idea what micro means. What about broken promises like no 3rd person Its not big of a deal but that means we can't trust them.We don't need you to tell us to stop playing I like game but it has serious issues that should be fixed at leas we should have basic functionality and build on that. I guess you have no idea how much **** this community took and you want to give them some slack are you serious ?

First post or not, it is not about Mechs or their Loadout, so it is in the wrong subforum.

As the rant that it is, it belongs to where I move it now.

Welcome to the brown sea, the "water" is warm.

You do have to remember that the negativity, while sometimes warranted as constructive criticism, is mostly frustration without an outlet. I take breaks from reading/coming to the MWO forums just to keep my sanity.

I should take a brake my self. I hate it when people rant about community for trying to disscus major problems that game has.I understand devs its not easy but they make so many stupid decisions and when community is already angry every next mistakes is taken even harder. its time for them to take game in proper direction and stop making people angry otherwise these forums are going to get even worse.

It's very normal. Happy people don't post about how they are happy.

There is a universe of difference between "discussing" and:
  • ranting
  • spreading doom and gloom on the MWO forums
  • spreading doom and gloom on other gaming forums
  • predicting the demise of MWO every day
  • calling the developers names
  • calling the developers' family members names
  • threatening the developers
  • threatening the developers' families
  • threatening to quit/uninstall/whatever and still doing one or more of the above

Did I miss something?

Except when they did. On these very forums. In open and closed beta. Hell, even before that people were mostly positive about the direction of what PGI was doing or planning on doing.

You've been here long enough to witness it first hand, but for whatever reason you choose to ignore it.
