is it possible at all for someone who isn't part of the founders program to get a beta invite?

At this stage, it's highly unlikely. Cb2 started last week, and we're like 3 weeks away from Operation Inception dumping all the founders into the beta on Aug 7. I personally expect Open Beta to show sometime mid to late Aug, early Sept at the latest.

I doubt it. Unless you are already in you will probably have to wait until after the Founders beta run.

Or you can get a founders package... as long as they are available they will still get you in @ aug 7th.

its specifically stated that all beta keys going out right now are for founders only, however if they see fit to release more keys after aug 7th, or the in fact are able to introduce the entire founders group into the beta before aug 7th, then they will give the keys to non founders, however these circumstances are highly unlikely, so it is best to not expect it, but if you get the 30$ founders pack, you can join the other founders on Aug 7th for their early access.

The first 10,000 keys were to non-founders. However, due to Operation Inception originally starting tomorrow, then getting pushed back to August 7, they are focusing on getting the Founders into the closed beta 2.
