Based on hardpoints, it would be little better than a CTF-4X with jump jets. The only thing it would be good for is pop-tarting, probably with 2xAC5/2xPPC.

a CTF-4X with JJs would be pretty nice, actually.

I don't believe either the hammerhands nor the battleaxe are candidates. Wrong timeline and whatnot

Wrong timeline, but we can't have the Warhammer so I want something that can work as a stand in.

Honestly the only Warhammer proxy I can think of that does fit is the Guillotine because Comstar has a bunch of them. It just depends on if you give the left arm a proper elbow or not, which half the time the artist do in fact give it (I would).

The Guillotine is somewhat unpopular as the original art was pretty bad. That said, a lot of mechs were terrible, but we've seen PGI make a good looking machine out of those as well, so I believe it can be salvaged.

However, I'm also interested in these two designs as well since they seem even closer to the Warhammer.

Given a choice of all 3 mechs, Hammer Hands, Battle Axe, or Guillotine, I would probably say the Guillotine. It fits the lore better (Comstar mech).

Hammerhands for me as the closest lookalike.

Really?

I think the Battle Axe looks more like the Warhammer than the Hammer Hands does.

Since we can't have the Warhammer I often wonder what would be a great replacement.

The Hammer Hands and the Battle Axe were both old, old designs (despite appearing in a recent book) from the Age of War, pre-dating the Star League. They're both cited as prototypes for the popular Warhammer. Interestingly, both can also jump.

Well, maybe we should have those in the game?

Personally I prefer to get the Battle Axe. It is a Warhammer with missiles instead of medium lasers for backup weapons. Twin PPC arms, Twin LRM-5's, and a shoulder SRM-6 and jump jets. Although it isn't shown here those little pods on the arms would probably be a clear locations for 2 more energy hardpoints.

It is by far the closest we could probably get.

The other one is the Hammer Hands. Instead of PPC cannons in the arms this one has AC-10's and medium lasers, and an SRM-6 in the right spot. It is slow, but again, like it's cousin this one can jump.

I vote the hammerhands. it has a nice similar look to it as the Warhammer, while being distinctive enough to stand on its own. Maybe make sure that a new 'variant' of it has a Warhammer capable loadout, and voila!!

I made a poll about this exact thing back in the day ( http://mwomercs.com/...80#entry1737680 ). Glad to see the idea still making the rounds.
