Sadly enough, it's working, because nobody wants to play the role mediums are assigned. Sprint and swarm, use your speed to your advantage, is that role. Unfortunately, no role except direct combat is really incentivized in the game right now, so nobody is interested in it. Therefore mediums (which could still use some incentivization themselves) will find themselves mostly in a combat role that suits them ill, and these awesome sales and contests that are obviously meant to promote mediums will only go so far.
Mediums: all I can say is, use what speed you have to your advantage. Meaning, do some capping, swarm and engage one target at a time (that means ignore others). Let's get the most out of these things.

Would be nice to have a solo que only for the tourney that forces you to pug.

My point was that "mediums vs the world" does not exactly work right now.

Medium mechs have their moments.

Your post has ZERO talk about the "ATLAS", I wanted more more QQ..... rate it a 1 1/2 stars out of 10.

Well, if it's any consolation, I still get shivers when I round a corner to find an Atlas waiting for me.
The TOPIC of his post was about the ATLAS. He went on a RANT about everything., BUT the ATLAS.
It was (Mediums QQ, Medium QQ..............).

Well, these premades that I see do in fact contain 3 DDCs a lot of the time.

Tough crap. The matchmaker places teams based on Elo...not tonnage or weight class. Deal with it. Enjoy the roflstomp. Bend over and take what it gives you, without any lube.

You are all going to be surprised at how little tonnage matching does to change that,

I made an elite Centi D with an XL370, 2 MPL's, 2MG's, and 2 SSRM's.
Hit, and more importantly, run.

Meh. You never know. Yeah sometimes the lighter team wins but there's a dev post in one of the matchmaker threads where they say, yeah the heavier team is more likely to win, with the greater the weight disparity the better the chance that the heavier team wins.
I think worst case with 3-3-3-3 there's a 195 ton difference in the teams which is a hundred tons lighter than the worst match I've personally encountered.

you forgot the most important part of being a medium..... don't leave the assaults behind. its why you loose.

A big part of the problem may be that P.G.I. is not encouraging the players to fill their roles--nor are players actually doing the research on what their roles are in certain 'mechs or weight classes. If players can play their 'mech's outside of their weight-class or design roles, great, but there is a reason 'mechs have roles in the first place. I think certain 'mechs would be A LOT more effective if they were actually played to their specific role; their specific strengths.

Dude I live in the Atlantic Time Zone, that's east of Boston... yes I know but there really are places east of Boston. Living in that time zone I sometimes get on early in the mornings and do some pugging. 9 am for me it close to 3 pm in Berlin. needless to say I have dropped with many European pilots and I have to report that European Pilots have a very different play style than NA Pilots. If you are not used to dropping with them it can really mess you up because of how different they actually do things because it's the lone NA pilot who doesn't have a clue when thrown into a large group with them.
