Now here's an interesting one. The title says what it does, and it does it well. With 2 ER Large lasers you can annoy the enemy from long range. When the close in under 1000 meters, start spamming those fast firing LRM5's and run because the XL255 gives you 90.9 KPH with tweak. Enough speed to outrun most heavies and assaults. Once you've gotten away/hidden, repeat the previous steps!. BAP and AMS are just added little goodies  And a great Heat Eff. to boot!

Try it and let me know what you think!

XL-Engine in a HBK-SP? I can accept it for all the other hunchbacks, because if you lose your hunch, you usually lose about 80+% of your firepower. But a SP is literally made for losing one sidetorso and still be able to fight. And in my experience, it happens quite often. Especially with the high alpha builds around, you can loose a ST very quickly if youre unlucky or too much "Leeroy Jankins". And the LRM CAN be annoying, yes...but not more. The damage with the two LRM5 will be quite low, and if more then one person around the target has AMS, the damage inflicted by the LRM will be even worse. I think, it's wasted tonnage.

Hmm the SP is the one I would run an XL in also, not to mention its basiclly a ranged support mech, so hes trying to stay out of the main fight. Looks pretty fun to me.

Yeah, you would be mad to forego an XL in a mech with this intended role.

HBK-4SP

Faster, more LRM ammo, and only loses a few items that are sub-optimal for it anyway.

No point in putting a head laser on, as with an XL you won't be going zombie, and a TAG has limited utility for a build designed for extreme range engagements only (you don't want to be less than 750m very often with this thing probably, and you don't carry enough missiles to be worth bringing the TAG for your own use). The BAP has almost no point unless you bring SSRMs (totally not worth the tonnage for the slight reduction in lock-on time for your LRMs).

HBK-4SP with Std 260

I use a standard engine for survivability. It still has 92km/hr top speed and decent firepower.

BAP is one of the best items for it's tonnage in the game. You literally get 2 modules (target info gathering and sensor range) and you counter ECM close range. That for 1,5 tons only, would be idiotic to not take it. It is usefull literally for every mech since you are quicker determining where excactly to shoot.

THANK YOU! No one ever seems to bring this up, but I too love the quicker target info gatherng knowing where to shoot before the enemy has won me many engagements.

Isn't the 4J the ranged support hunch, the one with the LRM hunch?
Remember when people used to run around in their beast mode 4SP with 2 SRM6 launchers?

I've tested the hunchback with PPC and Large Lasers a long time ago. The arms are so low that you end up hitting the ground to often unless you are on flat terrain.

4SP works with 2 LRM5, but if you put larger it shots them in multiple volleys. That's where 4J is better.

Neat build. However, if I were building an LRM/ER LL harasser, I would consider the 4J instead.

I dropped 1 heatsink, upped the engine, and upped the leg armor. This gives your laser a high clearance when firing. The problem with the 4SP build is that the arms are low slung making it more difficult to pop out and shoot. You have to expose a lot more of your body to enemy fire.
