I like this topic :)

I entered into closed beta (2nd or 3rd wave of invites) and immediately gravitated to the one mech that could do this.

The DRG-5N

Now I don't remember if this was 100% the build I used, but its got to be close. I remember adding the small lasers after a match where I was the last one standing on my team 1v1 on forest colony. I ran out of ammo and my opponent took the time to take me apart piece by piece (1 leg, both arms, then the engine) in order to inflate my repair bill (he/she told me so in all chat). This was a valuable lesson I have for sure learned from.

I'm sure I improved the build with the coming of Open Beta and the introduction of the essentials like DHS and ES. However, it didn't take me terribly long to realize for the same tonnage (18tons) and a considerably larger crit investment (7 more crits) I could run 2x uAC/5s. I saw a huge improvement in my game after learning to deal with the jam.

Now after about a year of living and dying by the uAC/5 I have started to play around with The Battlemaster 1D

I think I still prefer my uAC5s for dps/dakka purposes but I like it when things come full circle and I have been enjoying this brief diversion the 1D has given me.

It kinda cracks me up how the Battlemaster has demonstrated how HS hungry AC/2s are. I don't think I ever devoted so much cooling to them in past MechWarrior games.

edit: sentence structure and stuff.

Ballsier Dakker. 525 ammo is pretty decent, when taking the overall tonnage to account.

Cicada variants are always fun to experiment large ballistics with.

I still don't understand why people do triple AC2 on assault mechs...

Agreed, which is why I posted a Shadowhawk build :)

The OP did ask for "efficient", and IMO assault mechs don't make the most efficient platforms for AC2s. I'm generally not a fan of heavier mechs running loadouts that would fit just as well on something smaller.

I just (as in like 30 seconds ago) killed one of those, he ran out of ammo and I shot his left arm off.

Then they bring shame...

Dragon 5N with 3ac2 on one arm, and 2 ML on the other
325XL

1,12 heat, which is managable
elite it goes 96.4 kph
at least 300 points in a bad game, record over 800 in a good one. Lots of kills.

Why is it better then a shadowhawk? you can aim while running past someone. The arms give great flexiblity. and when 5x ammo run dry, you can finish anything left with the ML.

on Game #2 I ran out of ammo, never overheated got 11 assists 1 kill with 750 damage. Looking pretty promising so far.

An armless Cicada-3C can run 3x AC-2 with three tons of ammo using a 245XL.

Shadowhawk 2H is the most agile and manouverable, it will have more opportunities to shoot as a result.

Battlemaster and Victor both can fit more heatsinks and shoot longer bursts. Victor has JJ's but is better used for PPC/AC5 mixing.

Jagermech has the highest burst with an effective 4xAC2 build.

The most efficient AC2 boat is the SHD-2H. Fast, mobile, durable, agile, and cool enough. Backup lasers just interfere with the dakka, and too much cooling on any mech means you aren't carrying enough firepower. If 3xAC2 is your primary weapon system, this one has more damage potential than any other build.

Why does it have a single AC-20 ammo in the CT?

But I agree. It is one of the best loadouts I've played. I also play 4x AC-2 Jagermech and it is a beast :D

I fired 191 shots in a row on forrest colony to get to shut down firing all 3 AC2s. Thats not taking into acccount the pilot skills. In a regular game I could get 200+ rounds off before shutting down. So as far as sustaining fire I think this build does it best.
