This is dumb... The gold mechs are basically a donation to PGI to get this game going. If I found out that my money went to a charity instead of developing this game I'd be pissed.
Not that I am against charities, but that my money was taken for one reason and used for another. Stop being ******* and let this sale be what it is.

I hope PGI does a 180 and donates it to charity. I'm still going to put a bounty on the first Gold Mech I see drop in the game!

Same here... But I'm an Inner Sphere Merc who should be working for the FedCom!

100% is a tad ridiculous, 50-70% would be better, they still have to make some money off of the Masakari pack you're getting from it.

Wherever there is civilization, there is suffering.

But, anyway, does anyone here actually know the financial situation of PGI? Do they have so few programmers working for them because they can't afford to pay more people? I'm still convinced that the PGI budget for MWO has blown out and that MWO may not still be a going concern in the future.

$500.00 for a gold mech is completely and totally ridiculous but so is this so called poll. Roadbeer is absolutely right when he says that Victor is saying only his opinion is the right one and anyone who disagrees is wrong. Hell Victor is pretty much passing moral judgment on everyone with this poll by accusing anyone not siding with him of not caring about the less fortunate.

If victor and those who agree with him are such big philanthropist maybe they should put their money where their mouth is and donate $500 dollars of their own money to a charity instead of demanding some else do it.

A gold mech is only worth as much as people are willing to pay for it. Aparrantly, some people are willing to pay $500, so they are worth $500.

Considering they are looking to fil 8 positions at the moment, I'd say its a good indication they have the financial resources to continue to expand.

At least one job posting has been up since August. They maybe having difficulty finding qualified people who are willing to move to Vancouver.

Stupid biased poll. I voted no on that basis, not because I don't believe in charity.

It's so sad when I see people that still believe this game is anything other than a terrible failing mockery of what they want it to be.

This company does not give two shits about what you want or think. They want money. That is all.

Kudos on the idea. Its a noble thought, but unfortunately with their trend to monetize everything, I highly doubt they'd do so. Not from a greed perspective, but from marketing/profit margin one. They'd be better off doing another charity mech like releasing the Urbie.

The one and only good time in the last year PGI has earned good will was Sarah's Jenner.

Let's do that again. The Gold 'mechs are ridiculous and have caused nothing short of a full scale riot, so let's turn that around, shalt we?

Announce that 100% of the profits made from Gold 'mechs should go to a charity of your choice. Turn what is to be a laughing stock stain into a sign of good will instead, and maybe, just maybe, dull some anger towards this.

So come on PGI. Do a real Christmas miracle. Give that Gold to the needy.

OP, you are sick. Sarah’s mech was a –very- special case. One that reached out to a lot of people’s hearts. IT WAS NOT BECAUSE PGI WANTED FORUM BROWNIE POINTS. You make me so mad when you slap what happened with a label like that. Also do not water down that tragic event and PGI’s kindness by putting a charity on everything because they did it for Sarah. She deserves a lot more respect and recognition than that, and shouldn’t be treated as just an excuse or host for more charity events. There was an overwhelming response of support for Sarah already, and that is going to be kept sacred.

Now with that out of the way, PGI is a business, and they have said that people who spend $500 on a gold mech help keep the game alive and make up for those who spend $5.00 for mechbays, or don’t spend anything at all. The reason why we have mechs in the first place is because of money. No money, no mechs, no mechs for charity.

Not only that, I don’t want PGI to just throw the charity card every time they need a bail from a rock and a hard spot. If they’re donating just for brownie points, I’d be more inclined not to spend the money. Charity this or that, it’s not a freebie or brownie point earner, while it’s a good thing to do, it's bad taste to take advantage of it's implications for personal gain. Speaking of personal gain, you know what would say something good about YOU? If you if donated $500 to a charity of your choice, without getting a shiney gold mech. Why don't you do that OP? You're selfishness and the entire post you made is writhing with disgrace. PGI doesn't have to lift a finger in your presence, and it's you who should take a solid look at the mirror and revaluate what you see.
