1) Don't ask for locks

2) Don't ask people to call out targets

People will be more worried about their own positioning and enemy status than keeping a target within LoS and typing out the target in the middle of a fight.

3) INFORM people you are a LRM platform and will be providing fire support for brawls and enemies in the open.

4) Check before fire.

Resist the urge to fire when the weapon locks. Check the range indicator, is the enemy within range or out of range? Is the target moving away or towards you? Is the target popping in and out of cover? Is the target staying or leaving your team mates' LOS? Is the target under some sort of shelter? Will the trajectory of missiles hit terrain?

5) The best targets

Enemies brawling with your team mates. People forget about cover. Keep firing until the enemy is dead.

Enemies running across an open field. Nowhere to hide, keep raining until it is about to go into cover.

6) Positioning, positioning, positioning

Don't expect people to protect you. Move to a position where your enemies have no choice but to go through your team to get to you. Use terrain to your advantage.

7) Equipment and Modules

BAP, Adv Sensor Range, Adv Target Decay, TAG. Don't leave home without them
(Artemis is situational)

Artemis is mostly a must. Maybe not so much for LRM5 boat but I would take them for LRM10+

Also to add to this: Your best target choice is usually the biggest, slowest mech you can target. Spamming LRMs at a light mech moving 150kph from 900m away, chances are the light mech is going to outrun your missiles, break your lock, or find it's way to cover. If you target the bigger, slower mechs when you have a choice of two or more, they are much less likely to "dodge" your missiles.

And also:

8) You CAN dumb-fire your missiles. You do not need a lock. While most of the time this is counter productive, it can be a useful tool for area denial, or to force a hidden enemy to give themselves away (just follow the AMS trail)

sometimes no matter how good you are or how far you plan ahead something will surprise you and you are going to die.

especially if you pilot an all lrm a1 like me.

might also add that not everyone will be appreciative for your so called "support" much of the time you spend raining on a large brawl will result in four to five stolen kills.

some people get snarky lol.

- Practice dead firing LRMs on testing ground. It is possible, the LRMs go where your crosshairs are. Good for dealing with Mechs under ECM cover or out of target range but within LRM range.

- Note target range in game. I have seen plenty of times when LRM boats and users fire at a target and the missiles explode in the air because the target is beyond 1000 meters, max range on LRMs.

- Never fire LRMs within 180 meters, you will not hit and waste ammo & heat doing so.

- Note any target getting TAGged not by you. That means your teammate is either giving you a target as long as he can or marking an enemy for the team to hunt down. It also means they can hold that target for you longer.

- When designing your LRM boat, do not put nothing but LRMs on it. Follow more what most TT designs do, plan for some close range 'self-protection' firepower. Just a pair of big LRM launchers is enough, other missile slots can go to SRMs for self-protection. Too often even now I see Mechs with more LRM launchers than self-protection weapons, your teammates may not always be able to protect you or could even be dead. You do not want any enemy Mechs to be able to easy kill you, that they will, because you have no non-LRMs to discourage them.

I just run maximum lrm for total carnage and carry a coolshot in case a moment comes where the rain cant stop

if I die so be it, solo dropping its rare now that I don't get all or close to all my missiles out. dealing lots of damage racking up kills saviours assists defences and component destructions with good consistency.

all lrm cplt a1 c 2xjj is my fav way to quickly grind Cbills now.

If they don't understand the purpose of LRM platforms on their team and that's their attitude, I'll gladly and happily **** them off by "stealing" their kills.

I can sort of understand, when a boat sits behind cover without so much as a scratch spamming lock and deciding which order to rain on all the paper dolls, then turns on the tap drops a coolshot in there and keeps it comming lol

all their hard work down the toilet as you score the goodies " whose supporting who realy "

Dont forget to use TAG to break through enemy ECM. This will expose the mech to all of your allies to target and possible get more tags on it in case it moves out of LoS
