But you'd still be able to download MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries for free. The MekTek team would still be turning out 'Mechs for it. And you'd still be able to download MechWarrior: Living Legends.

I don't begrudge PGI for wanting to make money from MW:O. They did buy the license. I don't begrudge them wanting to shutter MW:LL - I love fan-made mods but business is business. You can still download MW:LL, they just can't develop it any further.

Just don't pretend that MW:O is in the same boat as Star Citizen, or Elite Dangerous. They're both shining examples of how to handle their community and deliver on promises. They deserve the respect and support they're getting.

MW:O is in the same boat as X:Rebirth. It may make money but the fanbase feels pretty burned. Admittedly X:R is also very aggressive in communicating with its community and while they were brutally dishonest prior to release now that they have peoples money they're at least very honest about what's coming and what isn't. They're also delivering several patches a week.

1. Steal idea of Multiplayer MW on Crytek engine from Mod.
2. Steal major design elements from Mod (like UI elements)
3. Acquire License by tricking diehard fans into believing you want to do something good.
4. Shuffle leftover money to other projects for a maximum ROI.
5.Shut down the mod like a [redacted]
6. ????
7. Profit with cashgrabs!!!!111

The forums are like that for me LOL. I used to look for game patch info, mech builds, and trends in the past, now I just come by to read the crazy threads. Sure I come here for the mech builds too, but the other stuff is so entertaining.

Do you all know, what the best thing of this tragedy is?

If all people would stop giving PGI money for not delivering what they promised for over 2 years now, they would just shut down the game, with the explaination:

"We are sorry, but with the loss of income needed to complete the game we have to stop the development. We will shut down the server next friday, because we need to cut costs, and we will focus on MW:Tactis. Was a rich..aeh..nice ride. Goodbye Mechwarriors!".

I imagine PGI is laughing their ***** off, every time someone buys a worthless mech-package for ridiculous amounts of real money for a 7 map-Deathmatch game. I also imagine devs browsing through the forums and laugh at posts where some white knight defends their business practices and their inconsequencial mechpacks AGAIN, despite all the false promises and lack of game content.

I'm sorry to say this, but PGI is not at fault here. If you still give this company money for not delivering, for ignoring your input and for charging heaps of money for content that has exactly zero value until the CW comes out, then there is no one other to blame than the people still willing to throw money at PGI.

Everybody deserves a second chance, but they push back non-existant game content in favor of designing mech-chassis which can be sold.

Bleeding out MW-fans is brilliant..not nice, but inherently brilliant.

When people don't agree with your opinions?

Oh wait, that's not a tragedy. That's life.
